"I assume you smelled our infestation?" A man asked when we came out of the bedroom.

"Indeed." Silas said. His tone was cold and clipped. "Rylan this is David, Alexanders Beta. David, Rylan."

A smile flickered across David's face as he nodded to me. He turned and led us down a hallway. Silas fingers brushed mine. It was probably meant as a reassuring gesture but I could tell how uneasy he was. I caught his fingers in mine and squeezed. Whatever was going on here I would help in any way I could.

The office we entered looked a little similar to Silas's. Two men were seated in the office along with Alpha Thane. They glanced at Silas, then me, but their eyes leveled on our hands.

"Brogan." One of the men acknowledged.

Silas nodded once.

"Aren't you going to introduce us?" The man asked.

"Anyone of importance already knows who she is." Alpha Thane said.

His words were met with a low growl. My skin began to crawl as I realized I was in a room with not only two alphas now but four. My hand grasped Silas tighter and I didn't dare look up.

"Watch your temper Anthony." Alpha Thane said. I could practically hear him smirking. Silas thumb began tracing small circles on the back of my hand. It was such a calm and reassuring gesture that I couldn't help but to relax a little.

"What the hell are you doing here Brogan?" The second man spoke.

"Do not speak to me that way Joshua. Ask politely or not at all." Silas suddenly harsh tone gave me chills. The power in the room shifted and swirled but his thumb continued to trace my hand almost lazily. There was no mistaking who was in charge here. Alexander smirked again and Joshua tensed.

"Why were you in my territory unannounced, Alpha Brogan?" Joshua said.

"I was following a group of rogue wolves." Silas said.

"Why?" Joshua asked.

"They took something from me." Silas said. I glanced up at him in surprise.

"And you conveniently ended up at Xanes?" Anthony asked.

"Alexander is my friend. If I choose to visit my friend that's hardly any of your business." Silas said.

"Sanders is not your friend. He is your ally." Anthony said.

"A child was found on my territory. It belonged to his beta." Silas said.

"And Calum?" Anthony asked.

"Logan is my neighbor. What we discuss is not relevant to you." Silas shrugged.

"It becomes relevant when you start scoping out our lands and plotting behind our backs!" Joshua growled standing up. Silas shifted slightly pulling me behind him as he faced Joshua and Anthony fully.

"Exactly what reason would I have to scope out your territory? I told you I was only after the rogues. It had nothing to do with you." Silas said carefully.

"Oh really? Maybe we should see what your little toy has to say about that." Anthony said glancing at me.

The room moved quickly. Within seconds Silas had slammed Anthony into a wall with his hand around his throat. Silas's other hand had Joshua by his wrist and he was kneeling at an awkward angle in which one movement would easily snap his arm. Alexander had taken Silas original spot and now stood in front of me. Everyone in the room seemed to be holding their breath as Silas closed his eyes and took several calming breathes.

"Do not EVER threaten her." Silas tone chilled the room. He opened his eyes. They weren't black as I had expected but their usual forest green.

"Because of your impudent behavior you are left with only two options, Anthony. Josh loses his arm and you your throat or you apologize and learn to keep your mouth shut." Silas said.

"You'll start a war Brogan!" Joshua growled.

"You cannot fight in a war if you're dead." Silas said coldly.

"The council will revoke your title the second you kill another alpha without declaring war." Anthony growled.

"I don't need the council. I allow them." Silas voice had not raised to a yell the way the others had but his words settled just as heavily. He was angry. He didn't fear war, the council, or even death. I was shocked.

"I apologize." Joshua hissed. My mouth dropped. I had never heard of an Alpha submitting to another alpha before in my life. Silas released him and focused solely on Anthony. Anthony met Silas eyes with a glare. Silas tightened his grip.

"Decide Anthony." Silas ordered. Anthony glared for a moment longer before lowering his gaze.

"I apologize." Anthony said. Silas released him and took a step back. Silas looked at Anthony for a moment and then Joshua. Anthony still looked ready to kill. Silas shifted and turned his back to him. Before Silas could even take a step in my direction they pounced. There was no mistaking the glint in their eyes. My chest cramped sharply in despair. They were going in for the kill.

~NO!~ I yelled. I felt all of my fear, pain, and anger flow through the connection with my words. Anthony and Joshua dropped down and clutched at their heads. I held on to the feeling of pain flowing through me. How could they try to take away the only decent Alpha I'd ever met? How could they dare try to take Silas away from me? As I thought of what I could have lost my anger grew.

~You call yourselves Alphas and yet you fight like children. GROW UP!~ I could feel them shaking. Their fingers were digging into their scalps but I didn't care.

"Rylan, stop." Silas said. He moved and I could no longer see Anthony and Joshua. I watched him through my haze of anger. Just because I couldn't see them didn't mean I'd lose the connection. It didn't mean I would release them. I wasn't done.

"You're draining yourself. STOP." Silas used his Alpha voice. I scoffed. He couldn't command me. I could feel the two alphas beginning to wither.

"Rylan please... Come back to me." Silas said softer. My anger flickered and vanished. The connection dropped. I blinked and looked up at Silas in confusion. What had I just done?

~Silas?~ I asked before darkness engulfed me.
