Chapter 23: Growing love

Fourth Prince Rong Yingming looks at Hai Chunhua who seems to be totally engrossed with her sister-in-law as they continue to talk to each other. Their maids are standing just behind them as they occasionally smile. General Hai Bojing seems to be just fine with this as he continues to watch his wife who sometimes turns her head whenever she wanted to say something to him. When she turns her attention back to Hai Chunhua, she happens to see a sullen-looking prince sitting next to her sister-in-law.

"Chunhua, His Royal Highness is here to visit you. Do not ignore him like that as it is rude. Husband... I feel a bit stuffy here. Let us take a walk in the garden. Caolan, stays here with your mistress. The others are free to do their own things."

Jia Huian stands up from her seat before General Hai immediately holds onto her arm and put his other hand on her still slender waist to support her. Both of them walk out of the room in harmony while the three maids are following closely behind. Only after both the General and his wife are no longer within sight then the maids scurry in a different direction.

Fourth Prince Rong sees this interaction between the married couple before he turns to look at the one he insisted to marry sitting next to him with a solemn look on her face. Ever since she has been adopted by the matriarch of the Hai family, he noticed that she is no longer acts as warmly as before. At times, he noticed that she looks at him as if she is angry at him.

He turns his head to look at his imperial mother's former imperial maid who stands behind Hai Chunhua. This imperial maid has been chosen for her because though she is an imperial maid, she actually comes from a respectable scholar family where her mother used to be the senior imperial maid of his imperial mother. Hence, she is very knowledgeable when it comes to the rules and regulations of the imperial family. Seeing her now makes him feels reassure as Caolan is obviously sincere in being Chunhua's personal maidservant.

But why is his beloved Chunhua seems to be somewhat dissatisfied? Had he somehow offended her in any way?

"Caolan, leave."

Caolan looks at Hai Chunhua who nods her head in response. With that, Caolan gives her curtsy and goes out from the said hall but she did not go that far of course.

"Chunhua tell this prince what is the matter with you? Ever since you are adopted as the Eldest Miss of the Hai family, you have been ignoring this prince. Why? Did I somehow do that has offended you?"

Hai Chunhua stares straight at the door and did not answer him. Fourth Prince Rong feeling a bit angry right now due to her sudden cold treatment towards him.

"Hai Chunhua... You can ignore me all you want but this prince would not let go of you. You are mine. Are you listening to me?"

Hai Chunhua turns her head to the other direction and still refused to say anything. This attitude of hers is making him more annoyed. He holds onto her lower chin before he forcefully turns her head towards his direction.

Hearing her pitiful tone of voice immediately made him let go of her chin. He can see that her beautiful pair of eyes are getting glassy with tears.

"Am I hurting you? If so, this prince apologizes for his mistake. Chunhua, tell me what is troubling you?"

Hai Chunhua turns her head to look at him before she softly sighs, "Your Royal Highness, please forgive Chunhua for her impertinence.
