I used to feel like a piece of coal.
Unused, unwanted, unappreciated.
I was left out,
Because there were other stones which held more value.
I was sad, yes,
Extremely sad.
I harbored more negative emotions than positive ones.
Until one day,
I was dropped into the boiling waters of care,
Dipped into a jar of love,
Buried underneath a heap of happiness.
When I emerged,
My dark shell had shed away,
And now I was a crystal!
Clear as day,
And bright as the morning sun.
I was no longer insignificant,
I was worthy to be in this world.
And all it took was tender loving care.
