chapter 27 ➳ Ice

"What's happening?" I shriek looking deep into her eyes.

"I don't know! I felt bad for you and I felt light headed and I feel like I can fly!" She yells out freaking out.

We were both freaking out.

"Okay Okay! Put this on, we're going to see Deaton!" I exclaim standing up.

I throw my beanie toward her.

She puts it on instantly covering her eyes and entire face.

I was panicking. whatever she was she wasn't having trouble with control.

She couldn't be anything related to any of us.

"Take us to Deaton before she turns into something eaten." I say randomly zapping us off.

"Is she okay? Is she hurt? Is she gonna sur--" Deaton cuts off all my questions.

"She's fine Kayla. I just have never encountered anything like her. Do you have any idea what you could be?" Deaton asks Gabriela who just shook her head.

He looks down at her intertwined fingers, almost inspecting them.

"May I?" He motions down at her hands.

She looks down then up again nodding bringing her hands up to his.

He observes them. Playing with the tips.

"Kayla, Call Scott." Deaton watches Gabriela amazed.

He knew.

I rush into the clinic.

"what's wrong?" I exclaim seeing Kayla, Gabriela, and Deaton all standing there.

"I think I know what Gabriela May be. Jordan Parrish is a different story." Deaton glances at all of us.

"Well what am I?" Gabriela asks rushingly.

"an ice shield."

"An ice shield?" Me and Kayla say in unison.

"W-What is that?" Gabriela asks confusion ringing in her voice.

"You're a shield, let's say a giant creature comes in right now. You can protect us all from getting hurt or even injured. You also have the ability to freeze and unfreeze things." Deaton explains.

"Ice Queen." Kayla breaths out.

"Exactly." Deaton nods.

"My mom told me so many stories about the amazing human being, my mom met her once, was able to be in her presence. No one has heard of her .. In 15 maybe 16 years. Gabriela.. Y-You're the reincarnated ice queen!!" Kayla exclaims amazed.

"Gabriela you are extremely powerful. Don't take advantage of it, don't let anyone take advantage of it." Deaton whispers to her.

She nods.

"I promise -- I'm not going to let that happen." Kayla whispers.

Gabriela nods reaching her hand out for Kayla.

she takes it and she smiles at her.

"I love you Kay." Gabriela whispers.

"I love you too Gabs." Kayla half smiles.

"Okay get some rest. You look tired." Deaton smiles at Gabriela.

She nods.

"I'll take you guys home." I offer.

"Thanks but I think we're gonna go for a walk." Kayla explains.

I nod watching them walk off.

Alone.

I walk into the hospital with Gabriela.

I had been planning on coming in here for quite some time, but I need this.

I really need this.

"I'll wait here." Gabby whispers sitting in a waiting room chair.

I nod.

I walk up to the secretary.

"Hi I'm looking for Sabrina Dunbar."

Liam's mom was always on my mind as well.

She made him complete every since his dad passed away in Iraq.

I look up to her for those same reasons.

"Room 356" she smiles.

I begin walking down the narrow hallway finally reaching the room.

She was there talking with the nurse, smiling, laughing.

God.

She looks amazing.

I walk in and her grin grows bigger.

"Kayla!"

She knows my name.

"Hi." I smile toward her slightly confused.

"Kayla! Oh my lord Kayla!" She spreads her arms out for me to hug her.

I walk over rapidly wanting to ever so feel the warmth of a loving mother.

"How are you?" She asks pleading for me to sit down next to her.

"I'm fine. H-How do you know my name?" I ask lightly.

"Oh Liam talks about you like it's his job. Day after Day. And you're Liam's wallpaper on his phone. A mother notices when a boy loves someone."

I cringe at the word.

"He doesn't love me." I chuckle awkwardly.

"Oh but he does. I know he does." Her grin was beautiful.

"I-I doubt it. We're only 15. But enough about Liam and me. How are you feeling?" I whisper.

"Never better! I mean you'd think they would un hook you from all these machines if they say you're improving but it seems to me I see more of these things in here everyday!" She complains jokingly making me laugh.

The warmth of her hands were planted onto of my Icy cold ones.

I was there for hours just feeling the mothering love again.

"I know why Liam loves you so much now." She laughs at one of my lame jokes.

I shake my head.

"I know why Liam loves you so much now too." I smile at her.

"Kayla, promise me you'll take care of Liam. Please?" She was so soft.

I nod making her eyes glow with happiness.

"Thank you baby." She strokes my cheek.

She was an amazing women.
