Phoenix smiled as she walked down the Santa Monica beach hand and hand with Jordyn on the left while Luka walked on the right side. It had been 5 long months since she was last in Los Angeles but it felt more like a lifetime. Being back in California gave her the feeling of pure happiness and freedom. She had missed her school, her film club crew, and friends from UCLA just as much as she missed that clean Los Angeles air.
"How long are you back, Phee?" Jordyn spoke.
"About a week."
Because of her short film that needed to be shot along with her graduation in 6 days, the Russo's gave Phoenix 8 entire days off of work. Before she left, she had gotten so many hugs and congratulations from almost the entire cast and crew. Knowing that she had another group of people rooting for her besides her friends and family made her heart full. She didn't know what she did to deserve such a supportive bunch.
"Julie's wedding is coming up and in Beverly Hills, right?" Luka asked. "Will you be back long for that?"
"Yeah. I'll be here for like a month after that. There's a little break in shooting between infinity war and the next avengers." She replied. It had been over a week since Phoenix first asked Luka to be in her film and their friendship still wasn't back to normal. They had barely even spoken other than when Phoenix sent him his script and other information about her short movie.
"That's fire."
"Have you decided who you're bringing though?" Jordyn questioned. "I talked to Julie the other day and she said something about convincing you to bring Luka?"
"I think I'm gonna bring Chris." Phoenix said, ignoring her last sentence. "I haven't asked him yet but I don't think he would say no..."
"Wait, hold on. Chris is meeting mama and daddy Benali?" She smirked as Luka got a cigarette from his phone case.
"I'm gonna go smoke." He raised the cigarette in the air before turning on his heels and heading in the opposite direction. As if instinctively, Phoenix rolled her eyes at the man that was walking away from her. He knew how much Phoenix hated the fact that he smoked cigarettes. She had attempted to get him to stop on many occasions to no avail until finally giving up.
"He missed you." Jordyn nodded her head toward Luka, whom was now sitting in the sand, as they walked farther and farther down the beach.
"I know."
"Try not to be too hard on him." She added. "The man was practically in love with you."
Phoenix scoffed. "In love? Yeah right."
"Seriously Phoenix. He was torn up when you left."
"Well good thing he's had 5 months to get over it."
