"Mmm. That is very good." Chris spoke after sampling the pesto Alfredo sauce Phoenix made from scratch. He tossed the wooden spoon he previously ate from in the sink and proceeded to hug his girlfriend from behind. He was pleasantly surprised that Phoenix revealed herself to be a rather good cook. She had never mentioned the fact that she liked to cook her own meals as often as possible when she was at home; but he should've expected that considering her vegetarian diet.
After the events that occurred last night, all Phoenix and Chris did was make love which seemed to help her blow off most of the steam from what conspired. Personally speaking, Chris didn't really care for the friends of Phoenix's that he had met. From his view, all they did was drag her down and that was something he wanted to shield her from. In his mind, he felt that L.A. was a toxic environment for her but that wasn't his place to judge.
As of this morning, Phoenix looked to be in a better mood which made Chris happy. They spent their day at Venice Beach where they just walked and talked for hours, with no mention whatsoever of Jordyn or Luka.
"I'm so happy you're here." Phoenix confessed. "I don't know how I would've survived last night without you."
"There's nowhere else I'd rather be." Chris replied truthfully. Besides the drama that seemed to follow Phoenix, thanks to her friends, Chris had been so excited to see his girlfriend in her home environment, doing normal things. Since he'd known her, their lives didn't exactly scream normalcy thanks to the long days on set everyday for months on end. Being in Los Angeles in Phoenix's apartment made him feel like they were a real couple.
"Can you drain these please?" Phoenix handed Chris the pot with the penne noodles. "The colander is in the sink."
After placing a kiss on her forehead, Chris took the pot and walked it over to the sink, where he poured the contents into the metal bowl that was filled with tiny holes. "When is your mom supposed to be coming again?"
"8:30." She answered while glancing back at the microwave clock which read 8:02pm.
Because Phoenix and Chris left Julie's rehearsal dinner in a hurry, he didn't get the chance to meet her mom. Tonight was like a personal makeup for the time they missed at the party. She had also invited Julie, who politely declined since she wanted a 'full 24 hours of beauty sleep' before her wedding tomorrow.
"All done." Chris announced after draining the pasta.
Phoenix pointed to the glass baking dish next to the stove, where she stood. "Pour it in there now."
"Yes ma'am." He responded, obeying her command.
When he finished, Phoenix poured the pesto Alfredo sauce into the same dish over the noodles and carefully mixed the contents. When she deemed it blended enough, she sprinkled an entire bag of shredded Parmesan cheese on top.
"Now we wait." She announced after placing the dish in the oven.
"It smells good." Chris complimented as the pair headed to the light grey sectional couch that wasn't too far from the kitchen area.
Phoenix waited for Chris to be seated first so she could plop down on his lap. She gently stroked his face with her thumb before kissing him softly. "Are you going to cook for me when I come to Boston?"
"Well I'm not that great of a cook babe." He admitted. "But I do make some pretty good eggs."
"What's your favorite thing to eat?"
"You."
"Chris!" She laughed. "Can I tell you a secret?"
"Of course honeybee."
