"I'm so sorry I'm late." Chris apologized.
Pressing her lips onto his, Phoenix pulled him into a quick hug. "You're fine! Everyone is inside."
"I feel terrible."
"Relax, it's not your fault." She assured after intertwining their fingers.
Chris followed behind as Phoenix lead him into the hotel where her sister's 'rehearsal dinner,' but really pre-wedding party, was being held. It had started half an hour earlier and Chris tried his best to make it on time but unfortunately failed thanks to his delayed flight from Boston to Los Angeles. "Anything I need to know about the parents?"
"My dad is a lawyer in Cleveland. He's very observant and a little critical but I wouldn't worry too much about him." Phoenix replied. "My mom is an optometrist in Orlando. She's blunt and bold but empathetic and never passes any kind of judgement. She trusts my sister and me wholeheartedly and respects our decisions, including the people we choose to date. You have nothing to worry about."
"And what about your sister?"
"Hands down the most amazing person you'll meet today."
The walk to the hotel's ballroom was a rather short one filled with Chris telling Phoenix what he had done since leaving Atlanta. Although she heard a bit of it from him on FaceTime throughout that last couple of days, she was happy to hear it again. The sound of his voice was like an orgasm in her ears.
"Wow." Chris spoke at the sight of 75 people filling the entire space. Half of them were up dancing to old school R&B while the others sat at tables across the room, talking.
It didn't take long for Phoenix's sister to spot her and Chris standing next to entrance; mainly because she had been waiting for Phoenix to come back after letting everyone know she was going out to get her boyfriend of a month. Julie couldn't contain her excitement as she approached the couple.
"Chris!" She welcomed with a warm hug. "I'm Giuliana but you can call me Julie. I am so happy you could make it!"
"Thank you for having me!" Chris smiled, realizing how similar the two sisters look. Julie was almost as beautiful as Phoenix, leading him to believe physical beauty ran in the family. "Congrats on the wedding."
"Thank you very much, Chris." Julie responded before focusing her attention on her sister. She slicked back Phoenix's hair, giving her cheek a little pinch afterwards. "2 things: Jordy and Luka just got here and daddy is coming this way. Come find me again after the pleasantries."
