Beep...beep...beep...I listened absentmindedly to the repetitive sound, staring off into space. I was still drowsy. I had just come out of surgery, the one they were performing before I seen my dead child. It was like someone glued the image to my eyelids. Every time I closed my eyes I seen my baby, and every time I envisioned it I wanted to scream. My stomach was flat again, but I had nothing to show for it. I felt like someone had taken my world and shattered it, and I didn't know how to start putting it back together again. My baby was the light at the end of the tunnel for me, in all the craziness I had created something that belonged to me, would help ground and motivate me; now I had nobody. Nothing but emptiness in my heart. I waited for someone to come into the room, I needed to know what the fuck happened. I still hadn't made a police report and I needed to know where Anthony and Gray were. I felt bad for leaving him there, especially now that I didn't even get away. He had come to save me, and I had left him for dead, I wouldn't be surprised if I never saw him again. That would just have to be another loss I would take. The staff had me restrained to the bed still, so I wouldn't cat out again, but my spirit was broken I had no more fight left in me. I just wanted to know how it ended up this way, where in the fuck did I go wrong?I heard the doorknob on my room door turn but I didn't turn over to see who it was. I figured it was another nurse coming in to check on me

"Lina?" I heard a whisper, I knew that voice. I froze up, but I forced myself to turn around. Gray was standing there; his face was bruised in a few spots and his arm was hanging in a sling; other than that, he seemed fine and I sighed in relief. Gray came over to me and bent down to meet me at eye-level "This is not your fault OK?" he said firmly. I looked away, but he turned my face back towards him making me look him in the eyes. "Do you hear me?" he asked, and I nodded my head yes. Gray stood up and walked over to the chair, he slid it beside my bed and sat down, letting out a long sigh. I could tell he was in pain too.

"Gray, what happened?" I asked softly.

"Nothing serious, punk nigga kicked me in my face a few times and I must've broke my arm when he sucka punched me. I don't remember too much else, I woke up in the hospital too."

"And Anthony?"

"I don't know Lina, The police haven't told me anything yet-"

"He ran off, if they haven't got him now, he's long gone." I mumbled in despair. I couldn't believe the nigga was gonna get away AGAIN

"I think we need to focus on you getting better- "

"He needs to be locked the fuck up!" I screamed at Gray in anger and immediately regretted it. Gray stared at me in confusion, but he didn't lash back out. My hospital door opened up again and the Dr. walked in

"Who are you?" she asked Gray

"A friend." Gray responded

"Well, friend would you mind stepping out, so I can speak with Lina?"

"He can stay." I answered for him. "I need someone in here with me." I added on. The Dr. nodded and shut the door. She made a few notes on her clipboard before looking over at me with sad eyes. I already knew what was coming.

"The good news is you're going to recover from your head injury without complications. The scar will be there, but you will have full control of your brain, now the bullet wound-"

"Bullet wound?!" I cut her off loudly

"You suffered a gunshot wound to the calf, luckily the bullet didn't travel and the surgeon was able to retrieve it without damaging any nerves, and besides all other minor bumps and bruises, I'd say you're fine-"

"Fine? You sitting up here tellin' me how good I am...and you have yet to apologize for the negligence of your surgeons." I snapped.

"Excuse me?" she asked
