Everyone hesitates for a second, watching the villains. One second too long. I jump up, addressing everyone without hesitation.
"H-hey! We need to evacuate everyone as far as we can from the villains! Escort the minimally injured and carry the others! Anyone who is too unstable to be moved will be teleported with me! Let's go!"
At my words, people jump into action and evacuation begins. Using my new move, Rapid Recall, I pop next to the most severely injured individual by memory. I secure him in my arms before teleporting as far as I could see, designating a new area.
I work up a quick pace. Secure a patient, teleport to the new area, and back again. I waste no time watching the fight, focused solely on the well being of the victims. Eventually, it calls for attention regardless of my plan.
I notice some villains are heading directly towards a group who's evacuating the injured. Without thinking, I pop over immediately. "Everyone, hold on to me directly!"
Quick to listen, everyone's in contact with me and I pop us to the new area. I drop to a knee as we land, my hearing fading in and out dizzyingly. That was at least 6 people...
I take a deep breath before pushing myself back up shakily. I stumble for a moment before checking the recall. Evacuation complete. I quickly move to monitor the victims as others go to join the battle.
At some point, Kirishima, Kaminari, and Bakugou run into the first aid area and I wave them over. "Here, l-let me take a look at her-"
"Erm... If I could have your attention please.
All stationed members of the HUC have been rescued from the crisis area.
This may be considerably selfish of me, but with that I must bring these provisional license examinations to a close!"
I faintly hear the announcement, my hearing still wavering.
"After we tally the scores, I will present the results of the examination to you all here.
Those who have suffered injuries, please direct yourselves to the medical office.
The rest of you, please change back into your normal clothes and await further instructions.
Thank you!"
Kirishima starts to speak, sounding muffled before my hearing cuts out completely. I feel a small rise of panic before I shove it back down. I take a deep breath, turning to him.
"I can't hear anything. L-like at all." At the redhead's panicked expression, I hold up my hands. "It sh-should come back in a while, no worries. I just might need some help..." I find it weird to talk when I can't hear. I can feel my vocal cords vibrate but no sound comes with it.
Kaminari must designate himself as my helper, pulling me along to change out of our costumes. We eventually find ourselves waiting for the results with the rest of the class. Yaoyorozu makes a small notepad and pen which the others use to communicate with me.
Midoriya jots something down before showing me the pad, a concerned look on his face.
Shouldn't you go to medical?
I shrug before shaking my head. "It's done this before so I assume it shou-should clear up okay."
Kaminari appears to laugh, snatching the notepad and scribbling on it haphazardly before tossing it to me.
Way too loud, bro.
I feel my face flush red and I try to lower my voice considerably. "S-sorry."
Suddenly, everyone turns their attention to the front and I follow suit. The tired man from the beginning appears to be talking. He gestures a few times before names appear on the screen. Somone takes the notepad before its pushed back into my hands.
Names on the board pass.
Nervous all of the sudden, I scan the board. As I go down the list, my tension builds until-
[Y/n] [L/n]
I grin brightly, turning to Kaminari. He appears to be cheering so I glance around to everyone else until my eyes rest on Bakugou and Todoroki.
Neither are celebrating. I look back to the board and my heart sinks when I see their names are absent. Glancing to Todoroki, I watch in dismay as the guy from Shiketsu slams his head on the ground. Again. Even after I warned him of a concussion... He seems to be apologizing to the stoic boy.
My attention is torn as Kaminari takes the notebook to write again.
Good job! Papers are gonna be passed out with scores.I nod and soon a man in a suit approaches me. He hands me a paper and I murmur a quiet 'thank you.' Reading the paper, I'm delighted to see I got a 98. The paper and notepad are snatched from my hand and passed around. When I get them back, I read the notes from the others.
Awesome job :)
Definitely rescue hero material!!!!
Even higher than Yaoyorozu
That's a near perfect score!
Looking up, I smile brightly at the others and bow my head. A silent thank you.
The man at front starts talking again so I drop my gaze to my paper. Two points deducted for stuttering nervously to a scared child. I'm pulled from my thoughts as everyone begins to disperse and Kaminari pulls me along. I watch, bemused, as he begins rambling to me before a look of realization crosses his face and he stops.
The next thing I know, I'm handed my hero license. I run my thumb over my hero name, Meraki, feeling oddly sentimental. Before I get lost in my thoughts, I'm pulled by the electric blond up to Aizawa-sensei. They talk for a moment before Kaminari takes off and sensei turns his gaze to me.
He appears to sigh before holding out a hand, looking to the notepad. I hand it over and watch as he writes for a moment. He turns it to me so I can read what he wrote.
Why didn't you go to medical?
I drop my gaze, trying to keep my voice in check. "I'm not really sure what they can do. My quirk's j-just overused. I'll be fine, it's done this before."
He nods at the words before gesturing to the bus. We're on the way back to the school when, halfway there, my hearing suddenly roars back to life. I flinch at the sudden noise before I find myself smiling at the sound of my friends talking amongst themselves.
