It's 6 am on a free day when I'm startled awake at the sound of my door opening. Peering out from my blanket, I see Kirishima slip in and close the door behind him. He notices I'm awake and smiles sheepishly.
"Can I play with Ryu? I'll be quiet..."
I vaguely mutter something perceived as a yes and roll over, falling back to sleep.
A couple of hours later, I wake up to find Bakugou now in my room. He's sitting on the floor with the kitten, completely silent.
After a quiet greeting, I get dressed in the bathroom. When I step back into my room, the ashy blond is gone. In his place, Hitoshi sits cross-legged on the floor.
"Why're you all visiting so early?"
The lilac eyed teen glances up at the question before shrugging.
"I dunno. Just wanted to see Ryu."
"Fair enough."
Hitoshi ends up staying for a few hours and I end up leaving him in the room when Midoriya invites me to train with him. We spar for a few hours before he eventually has to meet with someone.
When I head back to the dorms, I run into Aizawa who follows me back to my dorm to check on the kitten. I hear a few faint coos before he leaves and it's just me and Ryu again.
Picking up the ginger kitten, I settle onto my bed for a post-training nap. He curls up on my chest, purring contently and I'm lulled to sleep.
When I wake up, Hitoshi is back. He's sitting on the floor by my bed, playing with the kitten. Soft murmuring drifts through the room and I feel myself smiling.
"...hey 'toshi."
He responds without glancing up. "Hey... I got Ryu some treats."
"You really spoil him, y' know?"
He turns to meet my eyes. "He deserves to be spoiled."
"I mean... you aren't wrong."
He feeds Ryu another treat before moving to join me on the bed, laying on his side to face me. We're silent for a bit, content with simply existing until Hitoshi speaks.
"Are you alright after...?"
He trails off but I know what he's talking about. I think for a moment. My mom... I miss her. It still hurts, mostly when I'm alone but I'm never alone for long. Hitoshi and the class make sure of that. I come to my answer quietly.
"I'm... doing okay actually."
He seems to search for something in my eyes and he must find it because he nods slightly, rolling onto his back. His hand finds mine and we lay in silence until I speak up quietly.
"Thank you."
"For what?"
I squeeze his hand a little before I manage to find my words.
"For always being here. It means a lot."
He hums softly. "I don't think I could keep myself away."
Suddenly, there's a knock at the door. I glance over to Hitoshi with a smile before popping to the door. Midoriya is fidgeting in the doorway, a nervous smile on his features.
"Um... I was wondering if I could play with your kitten? I don't mean to bother-" He peers over my shoulder and his eyes widen. "Oh, Shinso's here! I'm sorry for interrupting! I can lea-"
I cut him off with a gentle smile.
"You didn't interrupt anything. C'mon in, he loves the attention."
I step aside and gesture for him to enter the room. Ryu jumps up from his spot on the bed and trots over to check out the new arrival, purring loudly.
Soon enough, the three of us are settled on my bed. Ryu eventually settles in Midoriya's lap and we fall into easy conversation. I'm happy to note Hitoshi seems a lot friendlier with him than before.
"Shinso?"
"Hm?"
"Who's your favorite hero?"
"Y/n."
I lean forward a little. "Actually, his favorite hero is-"
Hitoshi throws a hand over my mouth, face devoid of any emotion. "No."
"Why's it a secret?"
Midoriya waves me off. "Ah, it's fine. He doesn't have to tell me." He looks down softly only to glance back up when Hitoshi sighs and mutters quietly, looking off to the side.
"...Eraserhead."
Midoriya grins brightly. "That makes sense! He's the one who helped you get into the hero course and believed in your potential."
"Yeah. [Y/n] did, too. He'll be my favorite once he's a pro."
I give him a teasing smile. "You're kinda sappy, y'know?"
"Shut up."
