Running into the dorms, I escape from the rain. I'm shivering slightly, my jacket bundled protectively against my chest. Looking around the common area, I call to the first person I see.
"Kiri- please come with me."
"Wha- [N/n]?! You're soaked! Why aren't you wearing your jacket?!"
Without elaborating, I go directly to my room. Thankfully, the redhead follows and I shut the door behind him. I let out a quiet sigh before gesturing for him to come closer.
"Okay um pl-please don't tell anyone yet but I may have a new friend..."
Unfolding my jacket, I reveal a tiny orange kitten. Kirishima's eyes soften at the sight. "[N/n]... where did you even-?"
"So... there was a box labeled 'free kittens,' he was the last one, and it's raining. I couldn't leave him. So if you'll help me, could you watch him for a second? I'll be right back." I gently press the kitten into his arms before popping into the laundry area.
I toss my jacket in the dryer before popping back. Kirishima is sitting on my bed with the kitten, cooing softly. At my return, he looks up.
"What now?"
"...I need to invite someone over."
A few minutes later, Hitoshi appears in my doorway completely soaked. "You found a kitten?"
Kirishima gapes at him. "Did you just run here? In the rain?"
"Irrelevant. Where's the kitten, [Y/n]?"
I laugh quietly. "Come here- but close the door behind you."
I find myself seated between the two boys, the kitten now wide awake and sitting on my lap. It's silent for a moment. Then- a quiet mewl. We all murmur nonsense baby talk in response.
Hitoshi bumps my shoulder lightly. "What are you naming him?"
"I'm not sure..." I pet the kitten absentmindedly.
Kirishima smile blindingly. "What about Paw Might?!"
I scoop the kitten into my hands, lifting him to my face. He paws at my nose and I watch him for a moment before nodding.
"Ryu."
Hitoshi nods slowly. "Hm... 'dragon' is a fitting name."
The next ten minutes are spent watching Ryu discover my bed when Kirishima speaks up suddenly. "Are you gonna tell Aizawa-sensei?"
"...I should."
Hitoshi hums in agreement, scratching under Ryu's chin. "He'll probably find out one way or another."
Petting the kitten gently, I nod. "Later. First, I think he needs a fourth dad."
Kirishima laughs. "We're all dads?"
I duck my head, mildly embarrassed. "...yeah. What kitten doesn't n-need lots of dads? Unless you don't wanna help raise him..."
"Nah! I do! I wanna be in his life!" Kirishima responds, frantic.
Hitoshi chuckles quietly. "Is this a child or a kitten we're talking about?"
I meet his eyes. "Both?"
"Alright... so who's the fourth dad?"
"...Bakugou?"
Hitoshi shakes his head solemnly. "I'm sorry but I can't in sound mind let our son associate with someone lik-"
Laughing, I shove him playfully. "Sh-shut up! He's not that bad... Plus we need someone in this dorm who can take care of him when the three of us are occupied."
"But why him specifically?"
"Do you have a better idea?"
"Actually, ye-" He's interrupted by loud knocking. We all glance to each other before I speak up hesitantly.
"W-who is it?"
"Yo, Boyscout! Open the damn door!"
Hitoshi meets my gaze before deadpanning. "Speak of the devil and he shall appear."
I roll my eyes and get up to open the door. The second it opens, Bakugou storms in.
"You dumbasses are loud as shit. Where's the kitten?"
Said kitten is currently being held protectively in Hitoshi's arms. Closing the door, I cross the room to take Ryu from the lilac haired boy and sit down.
"...how much did you hear?"
Fifteen minutes later, all four of us are seated on the bed, discussing Ryu's future care.
Kirishima nods slowly, recapping. "So you're saying that if you die, Shinso gets him. If Shinso dies, I get him. And if I die, Bakugou gets him. Right?"
"Mhm." I hum, petting the kitten's back.
Hitoshi cocks his head. "...and we can all visit at anytime? Even if you're not here?"
"I don't see why not."
Bakugou eyes me critically. "And all we have to do is be willing to take care of him if everyone else is busy?"
"Yeah, basically."
We all watch Ryu quietly before there's yet another knock at the door. I hand the kitten to Bakugou this time and pop over. I peek it open to see Aizawa-sensei.
Panicking slightly, I open the door a little more. "H-hey...sensei..."
He watches me lazily before reaching over to push the door open the rest of the way. "I know there's a kitten here."
When he strides into the room, I try to explain frantically. "Uh- I was g-gonna tell you, I swear! I found him in the rain and I couldn't j-just leave him so-"
When he holds up a hand, I fall silent, watching him take Ryu from Bakugou. He pets the kitten gently before turning back to me.
"You can keep the kitten if- I check on it every so often. To make sure its doing okay."
I smile, nodding in agreement. From the bed, I hear Kirishima whisper gleefully.
"Five dads."
