[This is based off the BNHA novel so this is mostly canon. Technically, it was supposed to happen shortly after the hero killer arc but we'll just pretend it happens later.]
"Good morning. Moving right along, we'll be having Parents' Day next week."
At the teacher's announcement, the class erupts into conversation. I find myself feeling kind of excited despite everyone's reactions.
Kirishima speaks up loudly. "Even the Hero Course has gotta do stuff like that?"
Aizawa ignored the class's complains in favor of handing out a few packets. "Make sure your parents or guardians see this. And for homework, you'll be writing them letters of appreciation."
In seconds, everyone was overcome with laughter. I wasn't entirely sure why it was so funny though. Kaminari reigns himself in enough to ask a question.
"What're we, little kids?"
"Have I ever been one to joke?"
The teacher's question quickly got the class back in check and he continued, looking around tiredly. "During the class, you will each read your letters aloud to your parents."
"For real?! That's ridiculous!"
"Talk about embarrassing..."
I watched as Iida shot out of his seat at the class's commotion, gesturing with his arms choppily. "Everyone, quiet down! Quiet! Quiet!"
Asui turned in her seat to face him with a light smile. "You're louder than everyone else, Iida."
Looking mildly chastised, he lowers his voice somewhat. "Oh. Apologies. However, surely you understand why we're all so vexed, Sensei? Parents' Day implies an ordinary class that our parents or guardians come to observe, so I can't understand why we would instead be reading them letters of appreciation! Shouldn't they bear witness to an activity more befitting the Hero Course?"
"Nothing would be a better fit for the Hero Course."
"What do you mean?"
Aizawa glances around the room before continuing. "As aspiring heroes, you're all bound to receive thanks and appreciation from those you save. Which is why it's essential to consider just what that entails. Well, not that you all becoming pros is necessarily set in stone."
Satisfied with the explanation, Iida speaks up again. "How true! This exercise will confirm whether or not we have the correct frame of mind to be heroes, who must remain modest, humble, and always grateful! That makes perfect sense!"
Uraraka's soft laugh draws my attention and I glance over when she speaks. "You didn't take much convincing."
"Before the recitations, though, we'll give them a brief tour of the campus and a practical demo."
After school, I head to my mom's apartment to see if I can catch her in between shifts. She's not home so I simply leave the packet on her bed and pop back to the dorms. Ryu awaits me and I fall onto my bed, cuddling the small kitten.
Soon enough, it's Parents' Day. I was excited to receive a text on Sunday from my mom letting me know that she was gonna show up. It's gonna be really nice to spend some time with her, even if it's at school.
Making my way to my desk, I'm almost buzzing with excitement to spend the day with my mom. In contrast to my good mood, I can tell that everyone else seems a little awkward about it.
Kirishima makes a beeline for my desk when he arrives, a bright smile on his face. "Hey, [N/n]! Is your mom gonna come today?"
I nod, almost thrilled. "Y-yeah, she got the day off work!"
"You're pretty excited, huh?"
"Mhm, I never really get to spend a ton of time with her..." I trail off with a softer smile.
The redhead grins. "Well I can't wait to meet her!"
He heads over to his own desk and I'm left to my own devices. Eventually, the bell rings but... Aizawa sensei isn't here. While he's sort of lazy and tired, he's never late. It isn't logical.
Hagakure speaks up. "Aizawa sensei's not here?"
"Maybe he's a little late."
"A U.A. educator, late on an exhibition day! Why, a situation this dire could shake the very foundation of our very school!" Iida's exclamation rings through the room.
I glance over to Sero when he tries to calm him down. "Come on, even Aizawa sensei's just human. Everyone's late from time to time."
Still worked up, Iida shakes his head. "But, Sero! Heroes are locked in an eternal battle against the ticking clock! It can mean life or death for those needing saved, so even a single second of tardiness is a grave sin!"
I find myself fidgeting nervously. He's never ever late. Not even for things like training. If he isn't in trouble, there's got to be a logical reason for his lack of appearance.
The time continues to pass until homeroom ends. By now, everyone is confused and mildly concerned. Especially now with the lack of parents.
"Isn't it time for our parents to arrive?"
At Yaoyorozu's question, Kirishima shrugged, before reassuring her. "Yeah, not just yet, but pretty soon, anyway..."
Everyone debates the lack of adults until Iida stands up, taking charge. "Attention, all. As class president, I will travel to the staff room to check. Please wait here until I return."
Before he can even head to the door, everyone gets a text at the same time.
"A message from Aizawa sensei."
Opening the notification, I find myself confused at the direction.
From: Eraserhead
Ride bus to mock cityscape.I go to speak but Kaminari beats me to the punch, jumping to his feet.
"I've got it! Aizawa sensei probably wants to hold the model class, the letter reading, and the facility tour all in one place! It's only 'rational'!"
The rest of my peers murmured in agreement so Iida led the way to the parking lot where we found a bus waiting for us. I take a seat in the back, nervous about the situation.
If I'm right, Aizawa sensei is trying to throw us off by acting unusual. If I'm wrong... I push away the thought and tune out my classmates' conversations.

Is this the beginning of the trauma? Who knows?I'll try to post a sequel to Snow Day later and it'll be located before this chapter. I've decided to post this ahead of time because I haven't finished the continuation.
Thank you for reading!!!
