After a long day of shopping with Jess and Lizzie, I went home and crashed on my bed. I had forgotten how exhausting hanging out with people was. I heard the sound of my phone ding as my mind drifted off to sleep.
I woke up around ten in the morning and stretched my tired limbs before checking my phone.
Marcel- Hey here's the info for game night
Marcel- Meet @ 2054 NW Juniper Ave @ 6 pm
Marcel- Oh and wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty
I raised an eyebrow at his last text.
(Y/N)- Umm... why should I wear clothes I don't mind getting dirty?
Marcel- You'll see ;)
(Y/N)- I don't trust that winky face...
Marcel- Haha I'll see you @ 6 (Y/N)
(Y/N)- See you then
I let out a sigh as I plugged my phone into its charger and went to take a shower.
~Time Skip~
It was about 6:15 when I arrived at 2054 NW Juniper Avenue. I adjusted my oversized t-shirt before knocking on the door. The door soon swung open to reveal Tyler.
"Awe, who invited the girl?" Tyler into the house. "Tonight was supposed to be guys night!"
"It's nice to see you too, Tyler." I grumbled.
Tyler's eyes widened as he turned to me. "No, wait, (Y/N), I didn't mean it like that."
"I know, Tyler, I'm just messing with you. I get it if it's guys' night." I began to leave when I felt someone grab my hand and turn me around.
"(Y/N), I-I didn't mean it like that. Please, stay." I felt my cheeks heat up as I continued to stare into his crystalline eyes as he gripped my hand.
"O-Okay..." I stuttered. Tyler smiled brightly and led me inside.
"Guys, (Y/N)'s here!" Tyler called as we entered the living room. The room was filled with loud voices, some greeting me, some raging at the game they were playing, and some laughing at those who were raging.
"Well, now that everyone is here we can start playing the real games." Marcel chuckled causing a pit to form in my stomach. We all followed Marcel into a bonus room. Inside were various games for us to play. "First, we are going to split into two teams." Marcel explained as he picked up a hat filled with pieces of paper.
Soon enough we were split into two teams. Team One consisted of; Evan, Lui, Marcel, Brian, Brock, Luke, and me, and Team Two was made up of; Jon, David, Tyler, Craig, Scotty, Jaren, and John.
"So... what's the first game?" I asked as I placed the green duct tape on my chest to show which team I was on.
"Paintball!" Marcel announced. Some of the boys cheered while others groaned.
"Do we even have enough equipment?" I questioned.
"Sadly." David sighed.
I raised an eyebrow at the Irishman. "I would have thought that you'd be excited about this, David."
"I would be but because of my hight the guys always find me really fast so I'm always pelted with paintballs."
I let out a small laugh at his reasoning. "Well, I'll try not to shoot you so long as you don't shoot me, of course."
David chuckled softly and shook my hand. "Deal."
"Hey, quit being buddy-buddy with the enemy, Nogla!" Tyler called from where his group was standing. David wished me good luck as he left to meet with his team.
I turned my attention to my own team as we began to formulate a plan.
"We need to take out Jon and Tyler first," Lui advised, "They're our biggest threats."
After our brief team meetings, we were given five minutes to find our hiding spots in the woods behind the house.
"(Y/N), follow me." Brian ordered as he began leading me through the forest. He abruptly stopped at a rather large tree and picked me up.
"WH-What are you doing?" I nervously inquired, taken back by his actions.
Brian looked up at me in confusion. "I'm helping you into the tree so that you can snipe the other team." He explained.
"O-Oh, okay." I stuttered like an idiot. Brian helped me climb up the tree, and after watching me in order to make sure I safely got to one of the higher branches he ran off into the trees to find a hiding spot of his own.
I let out a shaky breath as I tried to calm my nerves. I hated heights with a passion, but it was too late to change my hiding spot. Besides, the branch I was on was thick and stable, everything was going to be fine.
It had been five minutes, which meant the war had officially begun. I could already hear the others shooting and yelling at each other. Some voices, however, were closer than others. I looked around and soon spotted three boys from the other team walking towards where I was hidden.
I took a deep breath and shot at the one in the middle, hitting the ground in front of them. The three immediately went on high alert and began scanning the area. I shot again and managed to hit one of them in the shoulder, causing them to shout out a string of curses.
One of them noticed me up in the trees and shot. It felt like everything went in slow motion as the paintball made contact with my chest. I felt myself slip and fall backward. I tried to grab onto the branch above me, but before I knew it I made contact with the ground. My body was bursting with pain as I gasped desperately for air. My ears rang violently as I watched the three boys run over to me.
They took off their masks to reveal themselves as Tyler, Jaren, and Scotty. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I could tell that they were panicking and yelling at Tyler. Scotty, apparently the one I hit, quickly ran off, while Tyler and Jaren sat beside me, seemingly talking to me and comfort me as one of them gently took off my mask.
After a while, I'm not really sure how long, Scotty came back with everyone else. The ringing in my ears slowly began to die down. I could hear Tyler calmly explaining to the group of panicking boys what happened.
Brian sat next to me with a distressed look on his face. "(Y/N)... I'm so sorry... my stupid idea got you hurt."
I could speak, but I did manage to grasp his hand and lightly squeeze it as a way to comfort him and tell him that it was alright.
"I'm scared that we'll only hurt her more if we try to move her," Craig spoke up, "I-I mean, what if she messed up her back? I don't want to accidentally paralyze her!"
"Craig, calm down. She didn't fall that far. She just got the air knocked out of her. She'll be fine in a little bit." Tyler reassured his panicking friend. I stared up at their worried faces as I slowly regained my breath.
After some time I was able to breathe steadily and managed to sit up.
"How are you feeling, (Y/N)?" Evan asked as he helped me sit up. "Are you okay?"
"Y-Yeah... I'm fine my back just hurts."
"Why don't we head back inside and play something else." Marcel suggested as Brian and Evan helped me to my feet. The guys all agreed and helped me back into the house.
