24. Protecting You

Parents can only protect their children for so long.
They can only shield us from the real world,
Filled with cruelty, bribery and sexism.

All of us,
Have we been through this before?
Have we been through 'The Enlightenment'?
Have we?

I know there's more to learning,
There's more you need to know,
Because the story's yet to unfold.

The things we do for money,
All the greed we possess.
The things we do for 'love',
All the selfish things we do.
The things we do for power,
All the innocent, killed.
Why, oh why, do we do these things?
We are only human you say,
But still you walk away from the crime scene you cause.
Don't.

This is what you've been warned about,
You're whole life,
The things your parents said you couldn't do,
Is not because they hate you and want your life to be miserable,
They were delaying reality from striking you,
They were protecting you.

They want you to make friends,
So you are never alone.
They wanted you to know the meaning of friendship and unity,
So that, when you do face the world, you can face it bravely and survive the 'war'.

Parents,
Oh parents,
I know you try your best each time,
I'm so sorry if I've been a broken child with a vicious side.

Children,
Oh children,
Learn the good things in life and never go astray and leave your parents dead-worried for you,
Never abandon them,
You never will know what they've done for you.
Don't limit your time with your parents,
They come once in a lifetime,
Don't regret.
I know you will, if you don't spend time with your parents.

They've been protecting you from the outside world,
They've been protecting me from the outside world,
Let's forgive and not forget.
