I've seen it before.
I've seen you before.
I know of the trouble you've caused.
Mental struggles, body negativity, making people avoid their meals,
Oh, anorexia.

I really hope I could've been there,
Someone tell the family,
It's an issue that you push the food down onto a tissue,
I would've told you
n o t h i n g
because anything I would've said would make you feel worse and be more closed off.
So, I'll let you be, talk about it when you're ready.
All I hope for, is that you'll get better, soon.

I know what's been done.
I know what they've done.
I've seen the power of ill words.
Anxiety, obsession with appearance, feeling like you're not enough,
Oh, anorexia.

Just replaying the process of how food is made,
Thinking it's disgusting,
Forcing yourself to give up something vital since the start, although you don't have to hunt.
I just want you to get better,
Seek help.
Plus, if you want to rant about the voice in your head, let it be,
We'll be there as more than a listening ear but also a confidant.
So, pour it all out,
I will try not to judge or get mad and force the food down your gullet.

You'll get better,
See food as a gift of the one and only,
Slowly but surely, taste again,
More than water to add in the weight when you're in the doctor's office.
I assure you that nothing's wrong with you,
We just need to control the dishonest voice in your head,
Like there is for everyone but slightly different for you,
I just want you to get better soon.

So, I'll be waiting...
