when they say,
"young love"
they think they mean,
mushy and gross,
promising forever together,
when they can't even
get past today.

but when we say,
"young love"
we know we mean,
holding hands,
and silent hopes.
broken promises,
and innocent kisses.

and they might see it,
as stupid,
and naive.
and they might,
in fact,
be just right.

but when your life,
breathes air,
simply to live through,
another day,
of droning study,
you begin to believe,
that "young love"
is the only thing,
that can get you through the day.
