a new dawn

to be worth it to you,
would mean ripping myself in two,
just so i could spill out,
right in front of you.

to be worth it to you,
would mean being vulnerable
and meek,
too timid to even speak,
simply unlike myself.

to be worth it,
to you,
every little thing that makes me unique:

like the crinkle in my eyes when i laugh,
and my puffed out cheeks when i smile,
or my one crooked tooth in my front set of teeth;

would be stripped away and made plain,
like you exes upon exes,
of little girls,
who all look like carbon copies,
of what i would look like,
if i let you strip my body,
and paint it blank.

but unlike those other girls,
i have the strength of a lion
and the force of the moon,
my waves beat your heart,
and my breath has the power,
to rage your storms.
