Geno sighed, staring at the city lights for what seemed like forever, the bags under his one eye barely showing, but they were there. He couldn't sleep this night, or the night before, but that was normal. Every night he'd always go up somewhere very high, and gaze about the scenery. It never got dull, but the sun was starting to shine, as the moon hid underneath the horizon.Currently, Geno was in a city, on top of one of the tallest buildings, a skyscraper, sitting on the edge with his legs swung over. Was he concerned of the height, and the simplicity behind one slip up and he'd be falling to his death? No, of course not. He had an animal form, which was a gene for monsters. It wasn't in every monster, there was a difference. Some monsters were just animals in general, just more humanoid, which most humans had commonly mistaken Geno for.
No, some monsters could turn completely into animals, just completely. For Geno's case, he was a raven, and he loved it for sure. He could turn completely into a raven, but he could also summon wings that were like oversized raven wings. Monsters with animal forms weren't exactly common, but not rare, either. But they preferred to keep themselves hidden, as it didn't exactly seem fair to humans or the other monsters. To them, it was overpowered, well it's true. There were little effects or powers that came with an animal form.
Geno didn't know what kind of power he had until he was twelve, when a murderer had been on the loose, and had slashed at Geno, in attempts to kill him. Why was he alone, you ask? Well, he was on a walk, duh. But he didn't die, Geno was invulnerable to death. Wait, not all kinds. Of course Geno was sure he would die of old age, but other ways wouldn't work. This didn't mean Geno would be totally fine with getting severely injured, it still hurt like hell. That was the most pain he had been in, and it was marked on him as a long red slash mark. The memories were just so cold, him lying on the ground, choking on his blood, wondering why he didn't just die.
That scared Error and Fresh to death, well, not literally. Nowadays, they were super protective, despite Geno being the eldest. Well, Geno was also protective of the other two, as he knew they could die much easier than himself.
Fresh was a regular monster, well, that's actually wrong. The weirdo was dressed like he lived in the 90s, and always wore those 'YOLO' glasses. With a backwards cap, and covered in bright neon colours, he also had a weird way of talking. Geno and Error had grown up with it, but he attracted a lot of weird looks. Well, as if the other two were any less weirder.
Error had an animal form, he was a panther, and didn't really go in his animal form a lot, as he was paranoid of other people knowing. Geno had no idea why he wasn't a spider, as Error could create some sort of strings that could come from his eyes and fingertips. Error could also see in the dark, as a large feral cat should. Well, he did have some resemblance to a panther. His bones were black, aside from a few red and yellow ones, and he was very sneaky, often lurking in the dark. Also, he wasn't exactly the friendliest person, as he hated social interaction and had developed haphephobia.
Snapping out of his trance, Geno checked his phone, the time reading 7:01 am. Welp, guess they're getting an early wake up call. Geno snickered, his black wings had been summoned. He stood up and jumped off the ledge, spreading out his wings as he glided, transforming completely into a raven; not wanting to draw attention down below. The wind tugged at his scarf, which had shrunk with him as a raven, but didn't disappear like his other clothes.
The sun slightly blinded him, as Geno flew over the city, admiring it one last time before escaping into the forest that surrounded the east side of the city, some parts of it were lush and green, full of life. Other parts, not so much. The citizens of the city often like to acknowledge the forest as two separate parts. There was the lively garden like part that currently had two parks where people liked to bring their kids and host events. And there was the 'haunted' part of it where there was less animals and plants, it had a gloomy aura, all the more to intrigue Geno.
