"What?!"

Nightmare doesn't yell that much, the better way to handle a situation for him was either ignore it or answer in a cold and harsh tone. So, he wasn't necessarily used to this, but there were reasons for his reaction.

And boy was this a good reason.

"We had no way to get there in time! He was way up above us and our time to get up there to save him was basically two seconds." Dust coolly replied, he sounded so okay with it Nightmare wanted to punch him in the face.

"Then why didn't one of you stay with him?!" Nightmare shouted, glaring menacingly at everyone in the room.

He could sense his own negativity skyrocketing, and the open fear emanating from most of the others in the room. The most coming from Dream's failure of a boyfriend. Nightmare turned towards him, growling with pure fury and ferocity.

"You promised me you'd protect him." Killer's face wasn't visible, he was mostly staring down with a blank look. He didn't even seem like he cared about anything that was going around him. His pessimistic emotions were not towards Nightmare of any kind, even though Nightmare was towering over him and radiating anger.

What was this idiot doing? Twiddling his thumbs while Dream was in danger? I even had a stupid private discussion with him and he promised to protect my brother. During those three days, he had brought Killer over into the library to talk with him. And no, he wasn't as trusting towards Killer as he should have been. But Nightmare knew he couldn't be there out on the missions, unless it required less public areas. So, he unfortunately planned to rely on Killer for helping Dream out. Look where that got them.

"I was busy with fighting those things, and by the time I realized the situation he was in, all I could do was call out his name." A tear travelled its way down Killer's cheek, where previous tear stains were; showing that he had been crying before.

At this moment, Nightmare's anger lashed out. He gripped Killer's shoulder, almost as if he was about to give him a pat on the shoulder. But seeing Nightmare's cold expression, and the tears running down Killer's face, you can guess nothing about the gesture was kind. With his hand on the crying skeleton's shoulder, Nightmare slammed him against the nearby living room wall. Cracks resembling a bit of spiderwebs immediately appeared around it. However, where Nightmare has hit, it was almost completely destroyed. Layers of the wall were broken, and Killer's unconscious body slumped in it, visible blood running down his jacket. His skull lolled forward, as if he was about to get up. Annoyingly to Nightmare, he did not in fact get up.

Nightmare heard the screams, shouts, and orders to stop. But all he could think of was Dream, his now captured brother.

As Nightmare neared Killer further, he had his arm pulled back; the hand curled up in a fist. Before he went to punch him, Nightmare paused; a realization that should have come much sooner cane to him.

Would Dream approve of this?

No, why would he? Even if Killer failed to protect him, the circumstances might have been to a point where Dream was out of reach. Of course that happened, why else would Killer be feeling such negative emotions towards himself? Memories of the moments where he had judged someone far too much flashed in his mind. Oh no, he was such an idiot for letting his assumptions get to him.

Nightmare lowered his fist, as well as hearing sighs of relief following up after that. He saw everyone's reactions, and their negativity and fear that surrounded them.

Cross, to Nightmare's devastation, was even worse than the others. His plan had failed, and as a result, Dream had been captured. The taller wanted to offer sympathetic words, just anything that would make that frown disappear. For once, he did not enjoy the power he was drawing from everyone's negativity. It felt...so wrong.
