"I just can't get my head around it"

The group had been having a study sleepover when the news was broken to Erin that her dog, Toto, was dead.

"The fact that he's gone. Forever" Erin sighed

"It's so sad, it really is, it is so, so sad, but at the same time, you know, what's done is done, so let's crack on" Clare said with a frown, shaking from the energy drinks

"Oh, I'm sorry, Clare" Erin said "has his sudden, tragic death interrupted your studies?"

"It has a bit, actually, yeah" Clare said

Esme chuckled slightly at Clare's blunt attitude, as she wrote down the notes she needed for the exam.

"How can you be so heartless?" Erin cried

"Don't cry Erin, he's in a better place now" Orla said "Unless he's not, you know, unless he's gone to hell"

Michelle frowned, rubbing her head in frustration.

"Can we please talk about something else? I'm half torn, this is wrecking my head" Michelle groaned

"What? Have you been drinking?" Erin asked with a sour expression

"Yes, I have" Michelle said "But so has Esme so it's fine"

Esme chuckled, throwing one of Clare's empty energy drink cans at Michelle who dodged it.

"And for future reference, if any of you invite me to a study sleepover again and I'm desperate enough to accept that invitation" Michelle said "there's a good chance I have a litre bottle of Pernod in my bag"

"I shouldn't even have to sit the exam"

The group stared at Erin, confusion in every part of their facial features.

"On, you know, compassionate grounds" Erin justified

"He was a dog, Erin!" Clare shouted

"Toto was much more than a dog! Toto was my best friend!" Erin insisted

Michelle stood up, walking towards the window, swinging the curtains open.

"Christ, I feel a bit boakey" Michelle said with a groan

"Sweet sufferin' Jesus, it's the morning already!" Clare panicked "What are we going to do?"

"Well maybe we could start with calming the fuck down" Michelle said making Esme chuckle

Clare glared at Michelle, her face flushing with anger.

"Calm down? We're still on William of Orange, Michelle, we haven't so much looked at the famine!" Clare shouted

"We've got the gist, they ran out of spuds, everyone was raging" Esme said with a roll of her eyes "It's just all so boring"

"Well, I can't tell my rebellions from my risings" James stated
