Drew
I left Emma to sleep to she could get ready for her night shift later tonight.
"Hey, come in." I said to Price as I opened the door.p
"So, what's up? Normally it's me calling on you for help?" He said as we walked down the hall to the living room.
"Yeah well I've got myself into a little bit of trouble..."
"Drew..."he furrowed a brow.
"Hang on! before we get all judgemental, here me out." I said as we sat down.
"Okay. basically, I was meant to be under social services care for about 6 years as a kid. I avoided them long enough until I got caught. Once I got caught, I had to explain to them all about my dad and mom, whatever you want to call them. Once I did, since noone really believed me, they were not arrested but instead put into rehab blah blah blah and some kind of offenders list." I shrugged.
"Right." Price raised a brow.
"My problem is that I was meant to stay with a distant relative, aunt person, which I did. For like a month before running away. Then social services were after me again, I got arrested for a whole thing, by the time I got out I was nearly 18 so they didn't really bother."
"Okay..."
"But, recently, Robert and Lisa, those parent people whatever, are back in my life. Robert is threatening to hurt Emma if I don't comply with his instructions. Basically to retract any comments I made so they can be taken off the offenders list. But, i'm sure you're aware that..."
"If you do that, you'll go to prison..."
"Exactly. Now that can't happen. I still have to protect Emma from Danny, John and all there goons. Now on top of that I have Robert to deal with. He knows the only way to get through to me is risk someone I love. In this case, Emma."
"We can bring him in, I mean, he's threatened you and Emma..."
"Not that simple, because then he can make the simple statement about me lying about the statements, I get arrested and boom! in deep shit again. He knows all about the Winters-Sambello case."
"We can put emma under police protection?"
"I'm still going to be in prison." I shrugged.
"Oh you really are in a bit of a mess, aren't you?"
"Oh you haven't heard the worst of it." I scoffed.
"Go on?"
"I have until midnight to come up with something."
Price looked at me wide eyed and said...
"Well Shit kingston."
Flashback: 2011
"Thank God this year's over." I sighed on the phone to Emma.
"Same. Next years going to be better. I know it."
"Well let's hope so. And you know what? I got you this year. This makes this year... The best I've ever had."
"Hey... Even though we've both had pretty horrible lives so previous years wouldn't be hard to beat...."
I smiled and shook my head.
"I take it as a huge compliment. So thank you. And likewise."
