The boy slowly opens his eyes to a quick tapping sound, his eyes squinted as he looks at the figure next to him, who is tapping a box placed on her lap.
His lips curve into a soft smile as he sees her, her tongue slightly sticking out from between her lips as she concentrates. He didn't even remember falling asleep but he was glad he did, he felt a lot better and it was all thanks to her, and he could even say he was comfortable?
Something about her made him feel like he was safe. Safe from the horrible people that acted the complete opposite.
But they are the same species right? He wonders looking up at her once more.
He hadn't realized how close to her he was to her until he tries moving to stretch, his arms clinging to hers, his leg draped over her as well.
EunHae turns to look at the boy as he stirs, retracting his limbs from her with a light blush. He hadn't meant to do that, it somehow just happened.
When she sees he is awake she removes her glasses and smiles at him.
"Hi fish boy." She greets. "How are you feeling?" She asks, to which he replies by rubbing the back of his neck silently. After a brief pause, in which he avoids making eye contact, EunHae speaks again, "I, um, I've been meaning to ask you," she starts closing her laptop, safely storing it in the nightstand, "c-could I see your back?" She carefully states, not wanting to make him uncomfortable. "I just want to make sure that you're healing." She mutters as she fidgets with the hem of her shirt.
Noticing the girl's reaction, he glances at her, figuring that she had asked him something by the tone of her voice, but he still doesn't get what she means, so he ends up giving her a blank stare, his mind trying to process the words that the girl said.
"Oh, right." EunHae says with a nervous laugh. "Can you do this for me?" She asks slightly pulling her shirt up and then pointing at him, smiling when the boy's eyes clear up in understanding.
As the boy slowly lifts up his shirt, EunHae heads to the bathroom to get the first aid kit, determined to give him the best medical treatment he had ever received. When she comes back, she finds a half naked boy, covering his upper body with his arms.
"Are you cold?" She asks noticing his slight shiver. "Don't worry, I won't take long." EunHae adds rubbing her hands together a few times before actually touching his back, not wanting to startle him with her icy hands, and a small smile forms on her face as she sees the bruises fading away.
"That's a relief." She says putting some ointment on her hands, softly rubbing it on his back. "You're actually healing faster than I expected," she adds with a small smile. "I'm glad."
The boy shudders at the warm feeling on his back, his eyes questioningly looking at the ointment out of curiosity. "My mom used to apply this on my bruises when I was small. It helps heal bruises faster." She explains following his gaze, bringing the small container closer to him so that he can examine it.
He takes it with hesitant hands, maintaining eye contact with her as she encourages him to try it, so he does just that, bringing the medicinal ointment to his nose, relaxing at the smell of the mixture of herbs.
EunHae lets out a small laugh as the boy places his index in the pinkest and tries eating it, taking the ointment away from him before he can actually eat it. "No, silly," she says with a smile, wiping his finger with a napkin, "you don't eat it. You out it on your skin." She explains showing him with her hands how it's used, the boy nodding as she stands up and takes the supplies away.
As she makes her way back into the room, she stops for a moment when she notices his fixed stare.
Do I have something on me?
EunHae wonders subtly wiping her outfit, and the boy, noticing her actions shakes his head and points at her legs.
"What is it fish boy?" She asks curiously raising a brow, his eyes fixed on her legs until she stops in front of him. The boy then shifts his gaze to her face, looking up at her from his spot on the bed before he places his hands next to him and tries pushing himself up.
"Ahhhhh." EunHae says with a snap of her fingers. "You want to walk?" She asks mimicking a walking person with two fingers, to which he furiously nods his head.
"Okay." EunHae says with a smile. "But let's try something first okay?" She says sitting next to him, pointing at her eyes and then at her feet so he focuses his gaze on her feet, watching as she wiggles her toes.
Then with a frown etched on his face, he tries doing the same, looking at her with a victorious smile as he successfully wiggles his toes.
"Very good!" EunHae says giving him a thumbs up. "Now let's try standing up." She says slowly demonstrating how to do it.
She slowly presses the soles of her feet on the wooden floor and pushes herself up using her knees to hold her weight. Once she is standing up she offers her hand to the boy, who carefully follows her every step, his legs wobbling as he tries to stand up straight.
"You did it fish boy!" EunHae exclaims with a smile, taking his hands and guiding them to her shoulders to keep him steady. "Are you ready for the next step?" She asks looking at him, smiling as he gives her a determined nod. "Let's do this."
Slowly EunHae takes a step backwards, surprised when the boy moves in sync with her.
They take one step, two steps, three steps-
And both of them end up tumbling down as EunHae steps on a slipper, making them lose their balance, and EunHae can't help but to burst out laughing.
"Bwahaha." She laughs covering her mouth with her hand in an attempt to stifle her laugh, her eyes growing into crescents as she sees the boy smiling widely with a boxy grin, making her heart skip a beat.
As her laughter dies down, their eyes lock, her heart beating faster as the boy leans closer to her in what feels like slow motion to her.
She doesn't know what he is going to do, but she forces herself to remain frozen, holding her breath as the boy presses his forehead against hers. Shocked by his sudden action, EunHae opens her mouth to say something but no words come out, and her heart drops as his head falls on her shoulder.
"Fish boy?"
