Ashton :

“Wait, wait! So tell me again, I’m meeting your mother and your step-father tonight and your father and his girlfriend tomorrow, right? Or is it the other way around? Oh my god, I can’t mess this up” Ashton rambled for the millionth time of the night as he tried another jacket on and checked himself in the mirror.

“No, you’ve got that right! It’s my mum and my step-father tonight” I confirmed as I walked over to him and fixed the collar of his jacket before placing a chaste kiss to his lips.

“You’re perfect, Ashton! Don’t worry, she already loves you anyway!” I tried to reassure as I took him in my arms and gave him a big hug.

“She’s a huge fan, too; she’s probably going to ask for a picture and an autograph you know” I joked and I felt him chuckle against me as he lifted me up and started to walk me toward the front door.

“Alright, let’s go, then!” he said before putting me down and bending down to put his shoes on.

“And your dad? Do you think he’s going to like me? ‘Cause like… I know dads can be very protective when it comes to their little girls… Oh my god, it’s awful, it’s double stress!” he started worrying again. I let out a big sigh before taking both his hands in mine and squeezing them.

“Okay, first of all, Ashton, you don’t have to meet them if you don’t want to, or if you don’t feel ready! But I swear to god the four of them are just so excited to finally meet you, I’m pretty sure I won’t even be able to talk to you at all during this two diners because they’re going to be all over you!” I said truthfully and he smiled at me before cupping my chin and pressing his lips to mine.

“I want to do it. It’s just that you’re important to me and I can’t really mess this up, but I won’t” he answered before taking my hand and walking out of his house.

Calum :

“It’s so nice to finally meet you!” my mother said as she engulfed Calum in an overwhelming hug. I watched as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and closed his eyes as a relaxed smile finally appeared on his beautiful face.

“You too, Mrs. (YM/L/N)” he answered as my mum told him to call her by her first name.

“So huh, Calum, that’s my mother; my father’s the small man right here…” I teased as my dad rolled his eyes and greeted Calum. He looked even smaller next to him and I fought the urge to laugh as he raised his eyes to look at the boy I was dating.

“Anyway… That lovely lady right here is my father’s girlfriend…”I carried on as she opened her arms to give him a hug too.

“And here you have my step-father” I said as the two men shook hands.

“Alright, did I forget anyone?” I laughed as I looked around my quite big family. We then all went to seat down and my father, who was the cook of the family, brought the dishes on the table before starting doing small conversations with Calum.

Because my four parents, as I liked to call them, did get on so well; the whole evening was full of joke and the two other men were soon teasing Calum as if he’d been a part of this family for years.

Luke :

“Have you met (Y/F/N) yet, Luke?” my step-father asked in the middle of the meal and my hand immediately went under the table to grab Luke’s.

“Huh, yeah…” he answered, eyes focused on his plate as I could feel my mother’s gaze on me. I lifted my head up to look at her and she was giving me a questioning look.

“It didn’t go really well, to be honest.” I explained as I felt Luke’s fingers start to tremble under mine. “He… I don’t know; he just reacted really weirdly. He didn’t even give him a chance. It was like he decided long before they met that he wasn’t good enough for me and nothing could make him change his mind…” I added, biting down on my bottom lip; my mother nodded and gave me an understanding look before turning to Luke.

“Don’t worry too much about it, Luke! He can be really extreme but he loves his daughter with all he has and he’s just worried. Just keep doing what you’re doing and he’ll soon realize how happy you make her. I’ve been married to this man long enough to know that he just needs time to think about it and fully wrap his head around the idea of his daughter being with someone” she spoke and Luke gave her the most genuine smile I’d ever seen on his face before squeezing my hand.

Michael :

“But, I don’t get it… Why don’t we all just meet up at your father’s house? You told me it was huge, and he’s having a barbecue so your mother and her husband might as well just come along, right?” he asked and I shook my head at him.

“No, Michael… They… They don’t really talk to each other anymore.” I informed him and his mouth formed a small ‘o’ as he understood why we actually had to meet my father for lunch and then my mother for diner.

“Oh… Okay! Well let’s go, then, we can’t be late” he said as he tried to hide just how nervous he was. I’d have probably fallen for it a few months ago, but now I knew how to recognize the little signs that showed that he was slightly scared: he was asking a billion questions; he kept on doing useless things and he constantly forgot what he wanted to do or say.

We arrived at my father’s and had a lovely time there; my dad was pretty nice to him. He asked for a word with him at the very beginning and I knew he was giving him the ‘don’t break my daughter’s heart’ speech but he didn’t really seem to mind.

My step-mother was all over him and if she wasn’t with my dad, it’d have probably been suspicious but I knew she was just trying to make him feel welcomed in her own way.

We then drove all the way to my mother’s house where we had a lovely diner with her new husband, who happens to be a huge Green Day fan; which gave my mum and I, time to talk about our lives.
