I already mentioned how I hated it whenever something changes without me noticing. And the very best example of change that I was currently hating right now was Amara.
We haven't talked about what happened last week. Nag-uusap naman kami ngayon pero kapag kailangan lang. We weren't still totally okay. She kept on avoiding me the whole week that I just got tired of chasing her.
"Anak, are you sure this is enough?" tanong ulit na mama sa pang-apat na pagkakataon na. I just sighed. I was standing by the counter as I kept typing a presentation on my laptop. Kaninang paggising ko ng alas nuebe ay nagluluto na s'ya para sa lunch. Amara was helping her because she wanted everything perfect as well. They were obviously tensed. Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit.
After I took a bath and changed into shorts and a huge shirt, I started with my school works. Gusto ko sana sa living room nalang gumawa pero dito ako pinapunta ni mama. They didn't need my help. They just wanted my approval on everything. I didn't have a say, though because they were actually preparing too much.
"Amara, sa tingin mo magugustuhan ng boyfriend mo 'yung mga pagkain?" my mom asked her.
Okay naman 'yung naisip ni mama na pasabayin si Eleazar sa pagpunta ni Caius. But Amara looked so unsure with it. Hindi s'ya mapakali. Para s'yang kinakasal sa tensyon na nararamdaman n'ya.
"Yeah, he likes beef and veggies naman po." nag-aalangan na sagot ni Amara.
There were varieties of food. Kumpleto nga, eh. Parang pang-noche buena 'yung ginawa ni mama.
Mukhang tanga si Amara dahil sa pagka-praning n'ya. As far as I knew, mas matagal pa sila ni Eleazar sa amin. Why was she acting like they've been dating like for just a week?
"How about your boyfriend, Salem?" tanong ni mama sa akin.
"Caius isn't picky. He eats everything." I said still looking at the screen of my laptop. He eats even those he wasn't allowed to.
Amara was wearing a floral dress. She looked pretty in it. She really did prepare for this day a lot while I just wanna simply see Caius today. Hindi kami nagkita kahapon dahil wala s'yang pasok. Tumawag naman s'ya. Halata sa boses n'ya na kinakabahan s'ya sa mangyayari ngayon.
My phone rang. Kinuha ko 'yon para sagutin 'yung tawag ni Caius.
"Hm?" bungad ko.
"Papunta na ako." sabi n'ya. Hindi katulad kagabi ay mukhang kalmado naman s'ya ngayon.
"Okay. Do you want me to wait for you in th---"
"Hindi na. Diretso na ako sa inyo. Mainit sa labas." pagpuputol n'ya sa akin.
"Sige. Mag-ingat ka." I was ready to hung up because I was getting distracted. Kaunti na lang matatapos ko na 'tong ginagawa ko. Alam ko kasing hindi ko mahaharap 'to mamaya dahil buong araw mag-sstay si Caius dito.
"Miss na kita." he whined.
"Hmm." I answered. Inipit ko ang cellphone ko sa tenga at balikat para may i-edit na grammar sa ginagawa ko.
"'Di mo ako miss?" he flirted. Huminga ako ng malalim. Ang dami n'yang time lumandi.
"Stop flirting and just go here." walang emosyon kong sabi. That earned me a good and loud laugh from him.
"Cute mo. Sige na. I love you." he chuckled and then hang up.
"Papunta na si Caius?" tanong ni mama sa akin.
