Junkrat's hearing is just fine for someone that listens to explosions daily.

Narrator POV:

Overwatch opened it's doors to all, and I mean all. The notorious criminals Junkrat and Roadhog legit came running down the hall in an explosion of bombs and laughter. Some people think they're crazy; to them it's just a normal everyday Saturday. Long story short, Junkrat wanted to strike the newly found Overwatch while it was still on it's first legs. He heard of rumors of treasure and it lead him on a wild goose chase. And no one could convince him once he made up his mind. Unfortunately, whoever told him there was treasure was a liar. Overwatch then caught the two Junkers and decided to made them clean up their mess to repay the damage they've done. Agents would have to keep a close eye on the two, taking in shifts to make sure the junkers were keeping their end of the bargain. If they were to be caught slacking off, it meant prision time in December.

Y/N was a new agent who unfortunately signed up to be taking one of the five hour shifts that run from mid-afternoon to late in the evening. They were all too excited to understand the pains of standing and watching criminals. The movies they watched made it sound more interesting than what it actually was. Still, it was far better than filling out mission reports. Even so, Y/N never felt comfortable when they stood and watched the Junkers. No confidence in where they stood, and fear of failure plagued their mind too often. It all came with being the rookie; being underestimated in their abilities and always having to prove to people their worth. Judgement made them anxious, and that anxiety made them hesitant. Hesitance made them silent. Better to say nothing than anything; better to do nothing than anything, right? Being in Overwatch was something they wanted to do to break free from the endless cycle.

The act of doing something instead of nothing (lol bob).

So, yes, Y/N took up this job to get out of their comfort zone. And this zone they were  in right now was anything but comfortable.

"Roadie! Why is it that I am the one doing all the work around here?" Junkrat yelled out at Roadhog. Several garbage bags filled to the rim with concrete and other pieces of debris were on Roadhog's side; while Junkrat has just started on his second garbage bag. Y/N rolled their eyes; it was the tenth time Junkrat commented on Roadhog's  hard labor as subpar when he has barely scrapped the barrel on his end.

"Are they always like this?" Y/N wondered.

Roadhog replied to his partner in crime in a low grumble, "Maybe it's because you're always complaining."

Junkrat touched his chest like he had been shot in the heart, "Roadie! I'd never- I'm not complaining," He let out a depressed sigh", I just wish our plan would of not have been for nothing." Then his light brown eyes looked into Y/N's, giant puppy eyes pleeding to be let go.

Y/N barely trusted their voice to sound authoritative, instead choosing to shake their head in disaprooval.

"Ah, damnit! I thought we would of had them, Roadie! I told you we should of praticed a little more, you're acting is just terrible!" He pointed to him with a rusty prosthetic finger.

Roadhog chuckled, "Says the idiot who made it all too obvious."

"Me being obvious? You barely put any heart into it! It was like hearing nails on a chalk board!"

This argument seemed to be escalating, something that could turn into an all out fight. Now, Y/N had to say something to get the two straightened out. But what to say?

"Um, excuse me?" Y/N spoke, bringing the attention of the Junkers towards them. "Can you guys- just stop arguing? Please?" Their face began to cringe at the amount of politeness they just gave to two wanted criminals. It sounded like a little girl asking for a popsicle at the ice-cream stand. They waited for the punchline to hit them square in their broken dignity, but it never came. Junkrat gestured to them and called out to Roadhog, "See? Even the guard has better manners than you! And a gentle voice to boot!" He gave his Junker partner an over exaggerated wink. "Surprised to know that one of you Overwatch agents have the capacity to be nice to a couple of criminals like us."

Y/N's felt her face heat up entirely; was he flirting with them? No, it's probably just him trying to use them to escape.
"I-I'm not going to let you guy escape-if that's what you're thinking!" This tone of voice sounded more worried and scared than brave.

Junkrat let out a laugh, "I was just thinking about how cute you are, sweetheart!" The red shade of Y/N's face made him laugh even harder. Roadhog let out a frustrated sigh, and went back to his work.

Ever since then, Junkrat poked fun at Y/N by teasing them relentlessly. It was harmless... At least that's what Y/N kept telling themselves. The truth was that Y/N never had this kind of attention before, and the worse part was that they liked it. They found themselves looking forward to the Junker shifts. He'd tease her a bit and she would occasionally made small quips right back. It felt good to have made friends after being alone for so long at the base. However, there was a pit in their stomach that warned them that he was a criminal. This could all be a game to him; and if it isn't then once they finish cleaning up the base, they will be gone. There was no win, just doubt. Y/N soon found themselves inching back into their shell, and biting their tongue from saying anything to Junkrat.
