Stepping off the train, onto the platform, Hermione grasps Draco's hand and squeezes it hard.

She was about to meet her mother-in-law...though not for the first time, it was the first time they would be civil toward each other.

She was terrified.

Narcissa had decided to meet them at the manor, not wanting to cause a stir at the platform...which Hermione was thankful for. It gave her more time to prepare herself for the looks - and maybe vile words, she would most likely receive from her.

"Draco. I'm gonna be honest. I'm terrified to meet your mother...like this." She sighs

"I know, darling. But hey, I'll be right there to protect you." He says reassuringly

Hermione loved when Draco was like this. She loved his softer side and when he acted so lovingly toward her. And when he would squeeze her hand reassuringly.

He would sometimes just look at her too, like she was the world to him. His grey eyes would turn the most dazzling silver when he looked at her. She had really grown to love grey.

"So, darling...are you ready to meet my mother?" He asks

"Absolutely not. Let's go." She sighs

Draco noticed Hermione was literally shaking she was so nervous.
His parents had hurt her through the years, with their verbal insults and extremely harmful actions. Not to mention their manor was the place where his aunt had tortured her and carved that word into her skin. Reminding her of the prejudice that had blinded so many witches and wizards before them. Including Draco, at one point.
Hell, it had caused not one, but two wars.
Deciding he should do something about Hermione's nervousness, he stops their walking and wraps his arms around her in a tight, loving hug, earning looks from the people that surrounded them on the platform.

"It's gonna be alright, Otter. Stop shaking." He sighs into their embrace

"Merlin. I'm terrified. Which you already know...please get my mind off of it before we go." She whispers into his shoulder

"Let's talk about Christmas...I think you'll like the present I got for you. But I'm not the greatest at gifts..." he chuckles

"I'm not the greatest either...I hope you like mine too. What do you think Pansy will do when Ron proposes? You know her better than I do." She asks him

"I kind of hope she slaps him for proposing on Christmas. She might very well do that. Or she might just be happy enough that she sheds a tear...but it's Pansy we're talking about. She barely has any emotions." He laughs loudly

"Draco! That's so mean! But...you are right. Ron will probably cry too. But we all know she will say yes immediately. She does love him..."Hermione says, oddly she found herself wanting to be in Pansy and Ron's situation, about to be engaged...
Maybe they would be soon?

She knew it wouldn't happen before Christmas though.
She was sure it would happen before they went back to Hogwarts though, she just had a feeling.
Draco had just been extra kind and soft lately, always holding her hand, kissing her on the cheek, or pulling her into tight hugs.
It wouldn't happen on New Year's Eve either. He would want it to be its own day like they had discussed the other day.
The only thing that held Hermione back from truly wanting to be engaged, was that she wasn't in love with the git, and she knew she probably wouldn't be for a while...

"I can't wait to see Ginny and Harry's wedding. The blokes gonna cry a river and flood the place. Ginny will probably hex him to stop him from crying or some crazy shit. It's gonna be quite the wedding. Then we've got Blaise and Luna's, it's probably going to be extremely strange and extravagant - knowing Blaise. And then Ron and Pansy's...I have no idea how that one will be." Draco laughs

"Oh! I wonder how Blaise's proposal went...I went to bed before I heard anything about it." Hermione says annoyed with herself

"Oi! I can't believe I forgot to tell ya. It went exactly to plan. They had a picnic down in Hogsmeade and he spouted off about how he was glad he got her and that he couldn't wait to love her, and then went on about how he loved listening to her talk about her creatures, etcetera, etcetera. Then he popped out the ring and she jumped him." Draco tells Hermione

"Well good for Blaise. I'm glad he's finally getting past her...strange thoughts? Their wedding is going to be so strange. I'm so excited about it." Hermione giggles

She hadn't realized it, but talking about engagements, weddings, and their friends had totally calmed her down and she was barely thinking about how horrid re-meeting her future in-law would be

"As much as I would love to stay here forever and talk about this with you...it's getting late...and I'm hungry. Could really use an apple right about now..." Draco says

"Here, I have one in my bag." Hermione says, reaching into her bag that she had put an extension charm on and pulling out a green apple, handing it to him

She kept apples on her at all times because she knew how much he liked them.

"Yes! Thanks, Otter...are you ready?" He asks, taking a bite of his apple

"Ready as I'll ever be. Let's get this over with." Hermione sighs, grabbing Draco's hand and side-apparating to Malfoy Manor

Seconds later, the pair was standing outside Draco's childhood home

"I think I'm going to be sick..." Hermione mumbles

"You can do it. I'm right here with you." He tells her, and they slowly begin walking toward the front gate, which opened upon their nearing

"Mother surely knows we're here now..." he sighs

Finally, they reach the front door and Draco knocks quick and hard

Shuffling is heard inside and they are soon face to face with Narcissa Malfoy

"Hello, Mother. This is Hermione Granger...my future wife."

"Oh..." she gasps

Well...at least there haven't been any curses sent Hermione's way...yet

\\~//Hello hello hello!!!

Happy Christmas, everyone!

Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday!
I'm celebrating with my family and my brother's family in America!
I haven't been here in so long it's crazy...
I'm in the southern states and holy shit I love the accents, they're so cute.
I didn't realize people actually used "yall" as often as they do... I thought it was a total stereotype

Anyway, hope you all have a lovely time!

Tell me what your favourite present you received was! Mine was an Apple Watch 5 hehe...and a weighted blanket...which I am under right now

Much love, happy holidays!
