This is a rough draft of a poem from a time where I was blissfully unaware of the toxic nature of my circumstances. I didn't see or know of the damage that was being done to me by someone who I thought the world of. Be cautious with your affections. Enjoy this for what it is.

Once, you compared me to the moon
Then I think it fitting to compare you to the sun
You called me your moonlight boy
So you must be the sunshine girl
Bringing light to all
Glowing ethereally
Your hair like a halo of fire around your head

Don't you know that the moon only shines so brightly because of the sun?

Once, you compared me to the moon
Then I think it fitting to compare you to the sun.
You called me your moonlight boy, so I guess that would make you my sunshine girl.
Which makes sense, because you manage to glow ethereally; your hair like a halo of fire around your head, similar to the solar flares the sun gives off.
You bring light to me and as cheesy as it is I must be a plant because when you shine it gives me energy to push on, photosynthesizing
You're vivid and stunning and life would not be able to go on without you.
Your skin is peppered with golden sunspots.
The curls of your hair wrap like tendrils of flame.
I lose myself in you over and over and over again, warming up and cooling down so quickly that I must have whiplash.
I pull so close to you, hoping to burn up in your atmosphere, getting myself high and dizzy from the lack of oxygen

I'm drinking in every bit of light you have to offer because
After all
Don't you know that the moon only shines so brightly because of the sun?
