nessa is startled by the sudden ringing of her phone, the facetime sound piercing her ears. josh's name appears at the top of the screen along with a black heart emoji she added last night. nessa's heart sinks heavily. a queasy uneasy feeling settles in the pit of her stomach. she can only imagine how much josh is beating himself up about this. she wants to tell him it's not his fault but he won't listen to her. she doesn't want him to be upset.
