"Fuse them together, sir?"
Carline asked, with certain doubt in her voice. The elderly man nodded at the woman and pulled his chair back in place. He sat down
"Yes. Fusion. Instead of an absorption, if we fuse both souls into creating a new type, leading to a much more powerful being and perhaps extend the lifespan of that being. Of course, this is only in theory and with the project we can determine if it is possible"
Mr. Gardner pulled his office chair back to his desk and sat down, now facing the scientist who was somewhat perpelexed by all of this
"But, Mr. Gardner isn't that Project Archangel's goal? Certainly this project is quite the conundrum, even for me and I just observe and write the reports for the other scientists. How would I be able to understand such thing?"
The Director reached for a drawer in his desk and pulled it open slowly, taking a sheet of paper and giving it to Carline
"This, my dear, is one of the reasons I asked you to come. I am assigning you as the Head Scientist of Project Archangel. I take it you wish to understand it so I am giving you the opportunity to work directly with the subject"
These news completely had her speechless and not in a good way
"Great... Just when I wanted to stay far away from that chamber, now I have to work directly on the project..." she thought to herself as she read the paper. Immediate effect it said

Asriel and Max were now sitting in a nearby park, chatting about what had transpired the day before and in the court
"Sheesh, and here I thought you guys had become... I dunno' super duper detectives and found the suspect about that" Max remarked, fiddling with his feet. The blue bird monster was actually more excited about seeing his friend again after so long
"And as always, you don't actually read the news, do you?" Asriel nudged his friend's shoulder, earning a chuckle from him
"What? I heard rumors of something about your dad being in court. I thought it was detective work. Besides, the radio station was riddled with news after news and I always had to read at least 4 or 5 articles to the public. I came across the Prime Minister's Murder and I tell ya, everyone was freaking out. Today I had the day off so I took my time to come here"
Max shrugged while Asriel just shook his head disbelief
"You haven't changed one bit"
"And I am not planning to, goat boy"
Max worked at the local radio EBBOT RADIO (yes quite an original name), where he spends most the time slouching and only speaking to the audience after 2 or 3 musics played. He had a programme called "Good Times with Max", where he would grab the guitar and play some solos, have 5-minute long podcasts or he would just tell stories of his like, along with some jokes he had up his sleeve (which were quite horrible jokes for humans but funny as heck for monsters). He met Asriel some time after the monsterkind was free. They had become great friends in a short time and they even hung out with Amber and others. He took the job in the radio after Asriel convinced him to go. Since he had never got the chance to in the Underground, at least he would get a chance with the humans and it was a success
A short while later, Undyne joined up with them bringing 3 different flavoured bags of chips. She sat down with them and gave one to each. She then sighed and looked at the goat prince
"What you did at the court was risky. You were way too reckless and even I wouldn't have said what you said" She says, with a noticeable worried tone which got Asriel a little too suspicious
"Why do you worry so much? It is all said and done, and Dad wasn't convicted for the crime. Besides, that officer was just a stuck up idiot. All he said was a bunch of baloney" he opened the bag and took a chip, munching on it "I think he was on sugar rush, with so many donuts he must maul down that fat bag he calls beer belly"
Max couldn't help but to let a loud "HA!" which got Undyne a little annoyed but she sat back
"Even if it is hard for me to admit it you do have a point, horn head"
3 hours had past and the trio were just doing their best to get their minds off of stress, telling jokes, talking about radio tropes, making fun of Tonald Drump from a TV show they watch from time to time. Eventually, Max had to go home so he fist bumps both Asriel and Undyne and sets off while shouting
"We need to go to that anime convention again sometime!"
Asriel chuckled and relaxed while Undyne looked him over
"So, you think this will wind down for a while? Everything's alright for now I think"
Asriel's expression became serious and he replied
"Honestly, I don't think so. Even with my Dad's innocence proven humans will be skeptical about our presence here. Even if we have done nothing wrong, they will always find a little detail to nit pick at. And that's not good as you may imagine. They give too much importance to little things and turn their head from what is major and more important. For example, you can have lots of money and be famous for... I don't know, some talent. But if you have one slightly negative thing, people will judge you for it. That's how humans are. Too nit picky in my opinion. Of course... There are exceptions"
Undyne grinned at him like she usually does when she is about to tease him
"Heh, like Amber. She is YOUR exception alright"
The prince became all flustered at her comment to which he immediately countered
"It's not like that!"
