AVERY STOOD OFF TO THE SIDE, watching as everyone partied and drank. She would love to be like the other kids, but didn't want to risk letting her guard down now that the Grounder was loose.

Someone tapped on her shoulder and Avery turned to be face-to-face with Finn and Clarke, "Need you to come with us."

"Why?" Avery asked as she followed them, "Did something happen?"

"Look, I can't tell you why, okay?" Finn responded,

Clarke stopped walking, "Finn, tell us why."

He stopped and sighed, "I set up a meeting with the Grounders."

Clarke looked around in shock, "A meeting? I don't understand. With who? How?"

"I was just with the Grounder that we had in the dropship. His name is Lincoln." Finn informed them,

"Wait a second. He spoke to you? Like in English?" Avery questioned,

"It's not important."

"If we want to live in peace Finn, we can't live in peace with people who've done nothing but kill us." Clarke stated,

"Can you think of a better way to stop the bloodshed?" Finn replied,

"Yeah. With the guns that the guard bring down." Clarke responded,

"The guns are to protect us, Clarke. Self-defence only. We're not gonna march into their camp and start shooting them up." Avery stated,

"You really want a war? Because at this rate, that's what's coming." Finn said, "Look. I know it's a long shot, but this is our world now, and I think we can do better than the first time around. I trust him."

"I don't." Clarke replied and Finn looked away in disappointment, "But if we go, we have to bring backup."

"No way. We're not bringing guns. Those weren't the terms, and if we're gonna do this, we got to give it a fair shot."

"He's right, Clarke. The guns will make it look like we're trying to start something." Avery stated,

Clarke paused for a moment, "Okay. Okay. I'll- I'll get my pack, and I'll meet you two at the gate."

Finn nodded, "Okay."

"Do you think this will work?" Avery asked the boy as they walked away,

"We have to hope it will."

They stopped at the gate to wait for Clarke and Avery bit her lip nervously, playing with the angel wing necklace Bellamy got for her, "Hey, uh, you made metal figurines, right?"
