A Family Affair

sixteen // take a hint, take a hint

I walked into the house, arms full of grocery bags. "Sweetie we have groceries" My mom looked at me funny as if something were wrong with me

The sight of my dad being in the house unannounced has been a thing lately and whatever they're up to I already know about and I'm not looking for any part of it because I don't want it. 

"Oh I know, my binge snacks ran out and we know how I get once I go to a store" You go out of your house thinking you're going to buy just a couple of things but end up coming back with a car full of unhealthy snacks your parents dislike because they're bad for you

As they opened the bags, the looks on their faces became worried looks "My body is lookin' mighty fine, these are just I'm bored snacks" I headed toward the sink, keep your hands clean and leave your germs down the drain!

They just nodded at me, the second Kylie walked in with baring hugs I knew this was about to get serious "So what's it take for me to convince you to throw a 20th party?"

I laughed a little bit "Apparently you" Her mouth opened wide and brightness lit up in her face

I'll be turning 20 in a month and a half and my family takes birthdays really seriously, it's like another Christmas. I haven't quite planned what I want to do or where I want to go or who even is invited but I know one question will pop up- Is Fai invited? So, I'll have to make amends with the guy so there is no bad blood, though I think our little conversation last week was me making amends- no? I'll try to do better, just not now...

"I knew it! Let's go to Europe!" Kylie wiggled her eyebrows toward me "Ms. Billionaire, I don't have the money" 

My parents looked at each other moving their index fingers back and forth to each other, they've been talking about an Italian trip which would be great but maybe next year when I feel like I've built my own empire up. But since I'm doing light work, starting myself out through family connections- something semi would do but semi doesn't really fit in the Kardashian name.

"Nothing too extravagant yet please!" I shouted jogging up the stairs

I have a photoshoot with a couple fashion magazines- I like to keep my business to myself then show it to my family AFTER- I want to do things without any of them pulling strings. I just have two this week, nothing major- a little scared and stressed because I've never done this before? Hell yeah. I don't know how they do all of this, wait, this is their life. I have school and this. Harder than it sounds, short list but all of this requires a ton of hard work if you don't know. I keep a lot of things from my family for good reason- the LOVE to meddle into everything and overly opinionated. Critical people. 

"You going anywhere else?" my mom looked at me from head to toe as did my dad, Kylie knew this phase but of course I don't give up to easily- I guess I kind of got those traits from Kylie Jenner herself

I nodded "Yeah watching Lakers vs. Suns play tonight with the girls- Lili and Mads came back from Canada two days ago- little get together with the whole gang considering Daya's been in self isolation for a common cold- night out" I haven't seen my best friends in what seems like forever

I'm the youngest out of all of them, while they're all legal and I'm not even close to it- a year and a half to go on U.S soil but you know everywhere else in the world can't really stop me from any of this. My girls and I are all driving dup- Madelaine and Lili drive in Mad's brand new jeep she'd been saving up for her whole life- she says it was tax money but we know what a successful savings reward looks like when we see it. Travis calls himself the sugar daddy for helping her cosign on the car and providing her a months worth of gas which I can tell you is what a real man does. Joking! I'll be picking Zendaya up at Jacob's house, they're very much together and their relationship is utter cuteness- they match each others energy and I can't think of anyone else that'll match her attitude the way he does. 

"You excited to see some, one to you action" My friends and I all met at the parking lot, walking in through the V.I.P sitting court side, courtesy of my connections 

I laughed at the sound of that "We'll see how good the game gets" I winked at them  as we requested one of the valet parkers to take a group picture of the four of us right where the Staples Center sign stood lighting in bold red letters above us

"Oh my God, don't be alarmed but Fai is on the other side of the court with Justine and Daniel" I sighed as those words escaped Madelaine's mouth, I remembered Kenny told me that she was supposed to go but couldn't make it because of a reshoot with Stuart Weitzmen- that's fine, THIS is a perfect opportunity of peace and to roll down the spikes and call off my assassins 

"Make amends" I whispered as they all looked so confused, I walked toward Fai, Justine and Daniel to give them hugs and kisses on their cheeks, a few small conversations before returning to my seat and watching the players warm up- the calm before the storm 

"Ken did mention this, it slipped my mind!" I continued on the conversation, I turned to a stare toward the court, I looked and shrugged in subtle- secret way 

"Kylie's planning my party and you guys better make it, Fai- you too. I hate to make my friends wait, see you guys" I waved and carried on

I'd usually wear heels but tonight was a game I wanted to look cute and comfortable in and plus I'd be enough of a giant standing next to Mads and Lili, decided to level out on this one. I wore the pink Dior monogram jeans with a plain white crop top that rose a few inches above my bellybutton, matching my Dior Mini Lady white purse and a cartier silver band on my middle finger- we all bought each other the rings as a symbol of our great friendship

"That wasn't awkward at all?" Zendaya looked next to me with a little laugh, I gave her my yikes face and asked me to do it again so she can show her followers what her best friends act like- complete fools

"Alright baby! Shooters shoot" I clapped along, I fear I overuse the word baby to the point where people might think I'm hitting on them... 

"This'll get me riding home with you guys" Zendaya commented as we all laughed at this playful joke

"I'll pick my car up from your house" I winked in response to the inner circle of trust
