16th June 2020

We were filming the last part of Episode 5 in Cardiff that day, as it was in the TARDIS, so we needed the set at BBC Studios. I was really looking forward to it; it was almost unbelievable that I was gonna kiss Jodie.

Aside, me, Mandip and Jodie decided to shake-up things when we got our make up done. We gathered our hairbrushes and Mandip said she would go first. She went up the stairs to the make up trailer and stepped inside.

"Ladies and gentlemen, costume and make-up, we have two very special guests for you this morning. They've both been preparing for a very long time for this performance, so they would appreciate some extra biscuits later on." she projected.

"Please, put your hands together for Jodie Whittaker and Y/N L/N, doing karaoke Hello!"

Mandip pressed play on her phone for the backing track, turned it up, and stepped aside for us. Jodie curled her head slowly round the door for the first verse.

"Hello, it's me,
I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet,
To go over, everything.
They say that time's supposed to heal ya,
But I ain't done much healing."

I joined her, my brush to my mouth, my face as straight as I could make it.

"Hello, can you hear me?
I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be,
When we were younger, and free.
I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet."

Mandip now mouthed with Jodie for the bridge.

"There's such a difference,
Between us.
And a million miles."

During the next few short notes, Jodie and I entered the trailer and encouraged the crew to pick up any brushes around and join in for the chorus. Mandip turned the volume up, but we all actually sang together for this bit.

"HELLO FROM THE OTHER SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE,
I MUST'VE CALLED A THOUSAND TIIIIIIIIIIIIMES,
TO TELL YOU I'M SORRY,
FOR EVERYTHING THAT I'VE DONE,
BUT WHEN I CALL YOU NEVER SEEM TO BE HOME."

"HELLO FROM THE OUTSIIIIIIIIIIIIDE
AT LEAST I CAN SAY THAT I'VE TRIIIIIIIIIIIIIED,
TO TELL YOU I'M SORRY,
FOR BREAKING YOUR HEART,
BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER,
IT CLEARLY DOESN'T TEAR YOU APART,
ANYMORE."

We belted the whole thing out, dramatic hand actions and all. By the second chorus, half the cast and crew were in the trailer with us, and we all had our arms round each other, swaying to the music.

During the last chorus, Jodie leant nearer to me and whispered in my ear.

"Are you excited about later on then?" she asked cheekily.

I wasn't quite sure what to answer. Of course I was, but should I tell her how ecstatic I was? Would she think me silly if I did? I stayed silent, thinking it over.

Before I could answer though, she told me something I won't forget. "Cause I am."

Jodie's POV

After our fun karaoke session, and getting our hair, make up and costume all down and dusted, it was time for filming. The previous day we had done where the Doctor gets Rhys safe, and now she was taking her back and into the TARDIS.

The funniest thing was, was that I had to carry Y/N through the doors, and try not to drop her when putting her on the console room floor.

It was 9am, the camera and lightning crew just finishing up everything. Y/N was standing, waiting in the corridor, so I snuck up behind her and scooped her up like a baby, making her yelp with surprise.

"Hey! A warning would've been nice!" she giggled.

"Wow, you are heavy!" I joked, adjusting the position to make us more comfortable.

"Can you put me down now?" she asked.

"Why? We're about to start filming!" I explained, looking down at her, my head cocked. Our eyes locked, and I gazed into her gorgeous E/C eyes. We shared a small smile before she stuck out her bottom lip.

"Pleeeeaaase." she pleaded.

"Okay everyone, positions please! We shoot in two minutes!" announced Dan, the director. I smirked at Y/N.

"Well, I suppose I can't put you down now, can I? And we have two minutes to get all the way over there....hmm...we'll have to leg it!" I laughed.

"Wait...Jodie.......don't!" Y/N squealed as I started running down the hallway. We were soon outside the TARDIS set, ready to film.

I walked in, Rhys in my arms, and the TARDIS shut the doors behind us, keeping us safe. Yaz rushed over from the console.

"Doctor what happened to her?" she asked.

"She's been shot, about eight times, by 2543 degree laser beams. Her lungs have two gaping holes in them, her insides are beginning to melt from the inside out and her brain is on fire. And it's all my fault." I almost choked whilst laying Rhys carefully down.

"Of course it's not your fault! You went to save her, and you did!" Yaz exclaimed.

Suddenly, the TARDIS took a huge hit to the right, and Yaz and I had to grab Rhys before she slid across the floor.

"What was that?!"

I jumped up to the console and checked the beeping red lights. We were hit again, causing me to almost fall on top of poor Rhys.

"We're being shot at with the same beams that hit Rhys. They're burning holes into the Torchwood!"

"I thought you said nothing could get through that!"

"I know I did. But this can."

I squatted back down to Rhys, Yaz joining me. I plugged a couple of tubes into her, which connected to the TARDIS cooling systems.

"This should do until I get you two home." I said, getting back up and typing the coordinates for Sheffield into the console. The TARDIS took another jolt.

"What?! I'm not leaving you."

"You are. You're gonna take Rhys back to Earth. I need to repair the TARDIS and it's a full-scale operation, and she might not be able to take it. I need you to look after Rhys. She...she means a lot to me."

I pulled the lever to land as Yaz picked up Rhys. I walked over to her. Her eyes were closed, her mouth closed in an attempt to keep the pain in. I opened it slightly, and placed my lips on hers.

A tiny tear appeared but I blinked it away. Rhys smiled a bit before returning to her solemn expression.

"Take good care of her." I said to Yaz. She just nodded. "Now go!"

Yaz dashed out the TARDIS doors and they shut behind her with a loud, echoey slam.

"And cut! Wow you guys, we got that all in one take! Nice work!" Dan applauded. Mandip and Y/N came back into the set and we sat together on the console.

Me and Mandip discussed a few things, but I couldn't stop staring at Y/N. I grinned at her once, and she returned it with a shy giggle.
