The music was playing, guests were already entering. I peaked down at the enormous staircase, smiling to myself. Only in movies people walked down one. Thinking of it, the entire mansion looked like a scene from a movie. I turned back around, smiling brightly to myself. "Are you that excited about this?" he asked surprised. For him it was the most normal event. "I've never actually been to a ball before!" His mouth fell slightly open, only to turn into another smile again. "Then I'll make this your best one ever!"
He held out his hand, making me turn to him. His smile was bright, yet so sad. "Minho Are you really up for this?" I asked softly. He tried his best to keep his smile up, but it cracked slightly. "Yeah why?" he simply stated, trying so hard to keep himself together. "Minho I know you might not have had the best relationship with your parents, and I know all about that, but no one would be okay if they suddenly lost them"
A tear escaped from the corner of his eye. He just stood there, speechless, not moving at all. He simply kept staring at me, it was all he could do. I walked up to him, taking him in my arms again as he broke down. "I thought I wouldn't care, yet look at me now" he cried out, trying to laugh a little. He hugged me tighter, pulling me closer to his chest.
After a while he slowly let's go of me again, wiping his tears away. "Let's go downstairs shall we?" he asked, already putting a smile on his face again. "Are you sure?" I asked carefully, looking into his eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine. Let's just go, everyone is waiting!" he said, sounding as normal as ever again. It was clear he wasn't one to show his emotions, so I couldn't push him, but it only made me more curious as for what more I didn't know about him.
He held out his hand, his sly smirk back again as I'd nothing had just happened. My smile instantly returned as well, taking his hand. We started walking down the stairs, the crowd slowly turning quiet as everyone was watching us. I felt an embarrassed blush creeping up, tightening the grip on his hand. He looked at me, rubbing my hand with his thumb. "Don't worry about everyone, they're just staring because you look beautiful" Minho whispered in my ear, still keeping that smile.
I scanned the room, locking eyes with Felix. His hair was slicked back as well, but contrary to Minho's suit, Felix's was mainly white. It was as if they were day and night. Felix as day, bright and like a sunshine, while Minho was night, so mysterious, so alluring. They say opposites attract, and well, it's sort of right, because I was definitely attracted to both.
My eyes continued to scan the room, falling on a different yet also familiar person. It was the nurse that saved me not too long ago. I couldn't remember her name, but she looked completely different here. Her dark brown hair was half up half down, her glasses had turned into contact lenses, showing her chocolate eyes, her beautiful olive skin shining under the light that fell down upon her from the chandeliers hanging up high in the sky.
For a minute I was blown away, she looked completely different. Our eyes met as well, she smiled brightly and waved at me. I gave a small smile and wave back, wishing these stairs would just end already so I could talk to her. She really saved me back there, I really wished we could be friends. Hopefully she felt the same way.
As soon as we got downstairs the music started playing, a Viennese waltz. The floor remained empty as everyone was eagerly waiting to see the couple dance. Everyone except for Felix than. He simply stared as Minho led me to the dancefloor with the brightest smile. "May I have this dance?" Minho asked, looking and sounding like a prince. "Why yes sir" I replied laughingly.
He put one hand on my waist, pulling me closer while he took my hand in his other. I looked up at him, smiling brightly as I put my left hand on his shoulder, finally getting in position. He put his left leg front first, causing me to take a step backwards. This went on, and before I knew it we were dancing. I closed my eyes, letting him lead me. It felt as if the world was disappearing from underneath my feet, as if I was flying, still safe in Minho's arms.
Sadly, before I knew it the song was over. I opened my eyes again, and the real world came back. Everyone started clapping, and the room became lively again. People started talking, dancing, eating. At first Minho stuck close to me, but soon he got swept away by tons of elderly people, all trying to somehow to become a part of the business that Minho was now left with. I just awkwardly stared around me, hoping to somehow find any comfort, aka Felix.
I looked around and around, but Felix wasn't anywhere to be seen. I started feeling insecure, so many people surrounded me, yet I had never felt more lonely. I started looking around, checking to see if I could find him anywhere. I trailed through about a hundred of people, but still no one. I finally went upstairs again, knocking on his bedroom door. "Felix, are you there?"
I softly opened the door, revealing Felix... And another girl?
