Chapter 24: School of Hardknocks Pt 1

Kamaya

Kamaya slowly opened her eyes looking straight at the floor. She felt her depression starting to come back and since she's been home she's been struggling to get up. She rose up stretching to see Kasey putting on his belt. Kasey hasn't been feeling her lately and she knows she deserves it. "Good morning" she yawned

"Good morning" he said. She got up walking over to him giving him her puppy eyes. "How'd you sleep? He asked. "Pretty good" she said. "Good" he said spraying himself with her favorite cologne. "Where you-

"I'll be in New York for a few days, you know its some things going on" he said. "Oh... okay" she said. She knew he had to handle business with her brothers. "I feel horrible about last week. Kasey I haven't been truthful with you and you didn't deserve all of that... I love you and I'm just tired of fighting" she said. Kasey just looked at her unamused. "I'm sorry-

"We can talk about this when I get back ight" he said putting his phone in his back pocket. He never blows her off like that and it was hurtful. She sighed "But I don't want you to be mad while you're on your mission" she said

"I'm not mad, I'm disappointed but you know, its married life comes with the territory I'll call you when I land... food is downstairs" he said kissing my cheek. "Wow Kasey so you're just going to blow me off like that. I really want to talk" she said

"That's the thing you really want to talk right now; it doesn't work like that. I don't want to talk right now" he said.

"So what are you punishing me now? She asked

"No I'm running late. I'll see you in a few days" he said leaving. She watched him walk off.

She turned back around wiping her eyes. She laid back in the bed beginning to cry. She stared at her ring begging to wipe her face. She had to start her day with the kids.

1 hour later

"Bend your knees a little more Kamara, stop being stiff come on" I said. Kamara was walking in a Fashion Show for her school and we've been practicing for a few days. "Mommy what are we doing today? Kiyan asked. "Going to Grandma's house for dinner" I answered. "And Grandpa too? She asked. "Mmmhmm" Kamaya said. "Okay next time don't switch too hard, we're keeping it cute this is not Models Inc." she said. Kamaya absolutely hated Models Inc. or those models that do those obnoxious dances and twirls at Fashion Shows it makes her cringe every time. "Mommy" Chance said laying on her chest. "What is it baby? She asked. "Where's daddy? He asked. "Daddy left" I said. "Is he coming back? He asked. "Of course honey" I said kissing his forehead. Chance is a mommy's boy at heart. 5 going on 6 but still wants to lay up under her. "Ma, you think Josie can sew me this? I wanna wear this with these heels" Kamara said showing her phone.

"Dress cute, heels way too high and you know it" I said. "Ma, its just for the show" she said. "No its too grown, plus the school has to approve everything, and they wouldn't approve of that either" I said "Well, will she do it? She asked

"I don't know Mara; you can ask Josie yourself. I'm sure she wouldn't mind" I said. "Okay" she said. "Now y'all go upstairs shower and get ready" I said. "You said dinner is at 4 its only 12" Kiyan said. "I know what I said, get dressed ladies" I said. "You too little boy" I said watching him walk with his sisters.

2 hours later

We finally arrived at my mother's house after doing some shopping. I had to get the kids some winter clothes the girls are growing like weeds. "Hey baby" My mom said answering the door. "Hi ma" I said. "Hi grandma" my kids said in unison. "Hey my sweet babies" she said. "Mmm it smells so good in here" I said. "You know I made your favorites" she smiled. "The food is almost done" she said. "Mmm can't wait" I said making my way to the living room. I sat on the couch resting my hand over my face. I had a really bad headache. I looked over at the kids on their phone. "Y'all so quick to get on those phones, go help your grandmother" I said. They put their phones down going in the kitchen.
