"Happy Birthday!" Maddy rubbed her eyes, and opened them tiredly to see Simon sitting on the corner of her bed, a small smile on his face, and a twinkle in his sapphire eye.

She sat up groggily and leaned her head back against the wall. Darienne, her roommate, was still sleeping, something Maddy envied.

How did you know it's my birthday? She asked, though each sign was sluggish. And what time is it?

"It's eight, so it's not too early. And I'm not dumb. When I asked you how old you were in the Orphanage, you answered that you were turning eleven in six days, and it's been six days."

Maddy sat up straight, her forest green eyes widening slightly, and she threw her legs over the side and stood up. I'm eleven? She could barely comprehend that fact.

Simon nodded, and Maddy beamed at him, before grabbing his wrist and running to the kitchen.

Her father, Sirius, Hermione, and Mrs. Weasley were the only ones awake. They all were sitting at the table, a cup of tea in hand.

Remus noticed Maddy and Simon first, and gave her a warm smile. "Happy Birthday, cub."

Maddy and Simon sat at the table, and Mrs. Weasley offered them tea. Simon accepted graciously, but Maddy asked for a cup of hot chocolate.

As Mrs. Weasley hurried to make the drinks, Remus looked at Maddy, who despite her renewed energy, still had bags underneath her eyes.

"You're up earlier than normal," he commented, getting a laugh from Sirius who sat next to him.

Yeah. Maddy agreed, sending a glare to Simon, who had started a conversation with Hermione about Hogwarts. Someone saw it fit to wake me up.

Sirius grinned at her, "That's what friends are for, Moonlight. I did that to Moony... and Prongs... every year. And to make it better, they're only seventeen days apart, so we had a joint party at least twice. Now, what honorary godfather would I be if I didn't get you a gift."

You got me a gift? But you can't leave the house?

"I went to the store to get it," Remus told her.

Sirius dashed out of the room, and returned at the same time as Mrs. Weasley, holding a package with a letter on top of it. Mrs. Weasley put the hot chocolate next to her, and Maddy smiled in gratitude. She decided to open the letter first.

Dear Moonlight,

HAPPY ELEVENTH BIRTHDAY! You're going to adore Hogwarts, I'm absolutely certain about it. Those were the best years of my life. I got you this present. I got one on my sixteenth birthday from Prongs and Moony, and it's my favourite thing. I feel like you'd appreciate one, and Moony wouldn't get it for you since he has an awful fashion sense. I mean, he's worn the same style cardigans since we were your age! And, I told Moony years ago if he ever had children, I would instruct them on the ways of fashion. I hope you like it.

Your Godfather,

Uncle Padfoot

P/S: I know your silently judging me for the clothes I'm wearing now, but rest assured that I haven't lost my touch, I just can't go clothes shopping as a convicted murderer

Maddy looked from the letter, to the box, to her godfather. It was fairly obvious from the letter that it was an article of clothing, and something a sixteen-year-old Sirius would wear. Maddy tried to think of popular attire from the seventies but came up short, deciding to just open the box.
