Sometimes when one has something they're dreading, the day somehow speeds through.

Before Maddy had noticed the day had gone, she had to head to Umbridge's office for detention.

She had been reading her book (the Welsh one on Dark Arts) while Simon sat on the floor next to her, a large cauldron of Cure for Boils brewing.

That offhand second Maddy checked the time made her remember she had only five minutes to get to detention. Throwing off her robe and cursing mentally, she bolted down the hall, narrowly avoiding running into a group of third year Slytherins, and ran into the classroom just as the clock struck six, queuing her to double over in a wheezing fit.

Umbridge looked over from her desk, examining Maddy's every move. "I see that you made it, Lupin."

Maddy used all the energy she could muster to stand up straight. I see that I have.

Umbridge ignored her (whether it be because she didn't understand or because she was a despicable human, Maddy didn't know) and gestured for Maddy to sit in the chair opposite her desk. Maddy sat down, and swung her right leg over the arm of the chair, and bent her left one so her foot was on the armrest.

"Why are you sitting like that?" Umbridge snapped. Her voice somehow was still high pitched, and worse than any Maddy had heard.

Maddy shrugged, but made no effort to move from her chosen position.

"We're going to be writing lines," Umbridge said, taking a quill that Maddy noted to be the blood quill and placing it on the desk in front of Maddy.

Maddy reached in the pocket of her jeans (which her father had put an undetectable extension charm on), and made sure she had what she needed in there.

Right after classes had ended, Simon gave her a vial of something she wasn't exactly sure of, but told her to take it in case Umbridge used the blood quill. She also had some spare bandages, her leather gloves, and her own quill and inkwell.

With a groan of effort, Maddy sat up and grabbed the quill.

"Same thing as last time!" Umbridge informed her.

The second Umbridge turned her head to look at some cat photographs, Maddy stuck her tongue out, before picking up the quill with her left hand.

Her right hand from the last time was fully healed, so she didn't have any scars left from the last time. That being said, Maddy had decided to use her left hand. She used it far less than she used her right, despite her left being her wand arm. It would make the aftermath easier to deal with.

However, Maddy had also decided that she wasn't going to be the innocent little girl that people who met her thought she was. She had her moments beforehand, sure, but she was a pretty tame child, for being the daughter of a marauder. All hell was about to break loose at Hogwarts, and the spark was going to be Madeline Hope Lupin.

This moment was no exception. Maddy put the quill on the paper and began to write one word on it.
