"Come on it's 4 am" I rolled out of bed, pulled the door open and ran to truck. I pulled on my turnout gear and jumped in "Lieutenant how's Jay?" "I think he's ok I was too tired to phone him" "I hope this is easy I need sleep" "Don't we all" "Hey speak for yourself at least you can go home I fell asleep at my desk the other week" "Sorry to remind you about this Katrina but you need to go pick your new uniforms up" I sighed "Well uniform my turnout jacket gets sent here" "Well you can have fun" "I don't want to" I sighed 

I jumped out "Burgess what happened?" "We were working overtime and sent to this address and we can't get in" "Parole?" "Yeah" I nodded "Lieutenant where do you need us" "Gallo get a halligan and Severide get a flat head axe and try to get into this place" "On it lieutenant" "Lieutenant?" I nodded "Fun promotion anyway have you tried getting in around the back?" "Yeah can't get in" "LIEUTENANT WE'RE IN BUT THERES A GAS SMELLING" I grabbed my radio "Kidd get the gas detector" "On it lieutenant" "Gallo, Severide wait for Kidd" "Gas is around normal lieutenant" "Ok go in search for a body" They walked in "So you a lieutenant?" "Yeah I don't know how I feel" "Hey congrats" "Oh thanks" "Lieutenant there's no one inside" I looked at Kim "Thanks Halstead I'll see you shortly" "81 PACK THIS UP I might I'll probably be asleep soon" I smiled and jumped back in truck and we drove back to 51.

I pulled my turnout gear off and walked into the common room and sat down at the circle table "Lieutenant" I looked up "What one?" "Severide and Halstead Boden wants to see you in his office" I looked at Severide "Thanks Capp" I got up and walked to Boden's office.
Kelly knocked on the door and he signalled us to go in "Sit down" I glanced at Kelly then sat down. "How can we help chief?" He handed us a file each and I glanced at it "OFI file?" "Watch out for these fires" I nodded and flipped the page "What's a pink star got to do with it?" I nodded "We don't know but I don't want anyone entering if you see that" I nodded "And lookout for anything suspicious?" I guessed "Yeah take the files with you and keep them in your trucks or office or take them home" I nodded "Thanks chief" "No problem you two get back out there" I stood up and walked out with Severide. "Arsons?" "Looks like it" "Yep well I have paperwork to do" I walked through to my quarters and shut the door behind me and sat down at my desk. I started filling in paperwork when my phone buzzed. I picked it up and answered it
 "Katrina Halstead" "Not answering with lieutenant?" "Matt hey" "Hey Kat hows things going?" "They're going I finished most of your paperwork" "Thank you" "Why did you leave?" "I had furlough and I've been wanting to get away for a while" "Where are you?" "Michigan" "Michigan what are you doing there?" "Christie and I used to come here years ago" "Ok well Sylvie is worried you should phone her" "I know I just wanted to make sure everything was ok" "Yeah there's an arsonist but apart from that everything is normal" "Ok well phone me if you need me" "I will" "Miss you lieutenant" "Miss you too captain" I hung up and put my phone on my desk. I sighed and finished the paperwork when there was a knock on my door.
 I smiled and Lucy walked in and sat on my bed. I could get used to my best friend having her own office" I nodded "So could I" I smirked, "How did you sleep through the bells?" "I didn't I just ignored them" I shook my head "I have to the CFD office and get my dress uniform after shift if you want to come" "Sounds good" "I'll go to the 21st afterwards so you can get a job" "Yeah I'm nervous about it though" I turned around and faced her "Don't be Trudy is a really nice person as long as you get her coffee order right" I smirked, "What is her coffee order?" "I don't know I go to her normal coffee shop and ask for her normal ok so my shift is over in 10 so I'm going to tidy up in here then come through to the common room" "Ok I have a question and I don't want you hating me for it" "I'm interested" "Is your brother single?" "What one?" "The detective one" "Jay?" "Yeah" "I think he is I mean I don't ask him because he will add gross details but why?" "Just wondered" "Ask him out for a beer" I tidied up and Lucy was lying down on my bed watching me "You can help you know" "Nah it's your office" I shook my head "I'm going to the common room" "I'll come" I nodded and walked out to the common room.
"What's going on here?" "Severide was telling us about the arsonist" "Oh case file" I jogged through to my office and grabbed the case file then jogged out to the common room and sat down at the circle table
"So Halstead how was your first shift as a lieutenant?" "Eventful to say the least and Mouch do you have any tickets left?" "Yeah, how many you want?" "4 please" "How many kids?" "1 kid 3 adults" "Ok"  I stood up and grabbed the tickets "Thanks Mouch I'll see you all at Molly's tonight?" I walked to the locker room and grabbed my duffel bag and walked out to the common room. Lucy was standing waiting for me and we walked out to my car. I threw my duffel bag in the back and got in. "So we are going to get your uniform?" I nodded then turned the radio on just as Sweet Caroline was playing so Lucy and I started singing along as loud as we could. Once the song was finished we started laughing "I remember doing that on the way to our shift every day" "So do I best part of my day" I smiled
