"Anna" I said as I sat down at my desk. She hummed in response. "I was in such a rush this morning that I forgot my lunch"
She turned to look at me. "And what do you expect me to do about it?"
"You normally pack extra..." I smiled.
"Not today, sorry. No one's gone shopping this week, so I only brought enough for me. I'll message Daniel though" she said, trying to sneak her phone onto the desk without being caught.
"What's he going to do about it?"
"He can bring you something" she said as she began typing, looking up a few times to make sure she wasn't going to get caught.
"Don't worry about it, he's busy remember"
"Nonsense. You got asked out today, you deserve a reward, plus I want fries" she grinned.
After about 5 minutes she spoke again. "He'll do it, but I owe him...again"
"Miss Seavey. Hand me the phone" Mrs Indigo our science teacher said, sticking her hand out for the phone.
Anna handed her the phone then sighed looking at me. "At least we're getting good food"
"True," I said and we both laughed.
Time skip to lunch
"I forgot to get my phone, can you go and get the food from Daniel, he's out the front" Anna asked.
"Really?" I sighed.
"Please" she begged.
"Fine"
She smiled and walked back into the classroom. I started heading towards the front of the school when someone ran up to me.
"Ditching are we?" I turned and saw Alex.
"No" I laughed. "I'm going to make sure that the dead body that I left in my car this morning is still there" I stated.
Alex turned and looked at me with a worried expression. "Wait what...?"
"Yeah, I killed a random person this morning and didn't have time to dispose of the body. You need to keep this a secret ok Alex, I'm trusting you. If you break my trust, you'll be next" I said with a straight face, we were now out the front of the school.
"U-um...yeah sure" he stuttered.
I burst into laughter. "I'm kidding! I just forgot my food earlier so Anna's brother is dropping it off"
"Oh my god, I thought you were serious. You should be an actor"
"Thinking about it, but I'm more into music" I shrugged.
I then saw Daniel's car and walked over to him, Alex following behind me. I didn't really want to talk to Daniel in case things were awkward, but I'm hungry and a girl gotta eat, I do what I must. As I approached the car he wined down his window, handing me the food. "You're lucky that I had a break. Who's this?" he asked.
"Daniel, this is Alex. Alex, this is Daniel" I said, introducing them. I knew that Daniel knew who he was considering they were neighbours, but for some reason he acted oblivious.
He scanned Alex up and down like he was looking for something, but couldn't find it. I think Alex was doing the same.
"Mum wants you there for dinner tonight, she said don't be late, tell Anna" Daniel stated and drove away.
I rolled my eyes and started walking back inside.
"You know, he totally digs you" Alex stated.
"No. Daniel is the biggest douche ever, there is no way that he likes me. He has no feelings"
"If you say so. Anyway, I'll text you later, I gotta go" he smiled and walked over to his friends.
Why did I feel so wrong about saying those things about Daniel? He is a douche, but I've also seen a different side to him. A more caring and loving side. Maybe that's the real Daniel? Maybe if I dig a little deeper, I'll be able to find the real him.
