Azalea coughed, rolling over and forcing her bruised body to drag itself upright

Azalea coughed, rolling over and forcing her bruised body to drag itself upright. Once standing yet again, a ring slammed into her chin and the fist sent her spinning back down to the ground once more. Grunting once, but releasing no other sounds, she panted as Amycus Carrow smirked down at her victoriously. He had absolutely no problem beating a woman and currently, she was sprawled across the raised podium in the Great Hall in front of a second year Dark Arts class. Many of them were crying as they watched the blood roll down her body, falling down the steps in front of them.

"This is what happens when you don't follow orders! Do you understand?" he demanded and the children timidly nodded in return, too horrified to move their gazes away as they watched Azalea drag herself back to her feet.

"Amycus!" a voice called and he turned around, smirk instantly painting his lips as he found the stern face of Minerva McGonagall staring up at him, eyes blinking softly and he chuckled.

"What can I do for you, professor?"

"I require Miss Hogwarts" the woman in black stated calmly, arms crossed over her front and her eyes didn't so much as even turn to face Azalea who was stood uncomfortably, leant extremely to one side in a bid to stay standing, left leg ready to give out under her weight.

"Take her away, I've had my fun with her anyway. Wouldn't want to mess up her pretty face too much," he smirked but his beady eyes took in her busted lip, bruised cheekbones and jaw and slice across her temple.

"Follow me, Azalea" Minerva snapped and turned on her heel, sweeping from the room. As Azalea stumbled along behind her, she couldn't help but wonder what the school would've been like had Minerva been allowed to remain in charge. She was certain things would have been almost ordinary. That was what she wanted more than anything... Things to go back to normal. It didn't seem likely.

"Where are we going?" she was promptly ignored and sighed but otherwise allowed the transfiguration teacher to continue sweeping quickly through empty hallways. Azalea almost fell forward as she forced her weak body to move as quickly as it physically could.

"What did you do this time?" McGonagall questioned when they were successfully out of the vicinity of either Carrow. Now alone with Azalea, Minerva's voice seemed weaker, sadder. The truth was, Minerva McGonagall was utterly disgusted with herself because all the way around her, children were being tortured and damn nearly beaten to death and she could do nothing, at risk of being murdered herself. She could do more good, alive.

"That" Azalea whistled as if it was nothing. "Was me taking the torture of a third-year girl who refused to use the killing curse on a spider." the teacher turned to her with horror in her eyes, finally assessing the girl as they entered an empty classroom. Under all the bruising and wounds, Azalea Hogwarts somehow managed to remain looking beautiful, though her shirt was ripped at the top and McGonagall's eyes lingered there for a long moment.

"Yes, I have heard about you... Taking the other pupils detentions." the woman coughed where she stood.

"The Carrows are surprisingly eager to let me do it. There's practically chains in the dungeons with my name on." she giggled out and McGonagall was stumped, not being able to find a single bit of humour in any of the things Azalea had said. "It's okay Professor. I would much rather take the punishments myself than see anyone get hurt."

"You are so selfless, Lea." Minerva gushed, using Harry's nickname for the girl and despite the way it made her throat clench, it filled her with warmth to have it used, even not by him.

"Everyone deserves to have someone fight for them. And even with my parent's orders aside... I don't want to see anyone get hurt. I just want Hogwarts to be what it once was and I will fight every single day to see the restoration of this school. Merlin, it is Christmas next week and there isn't a single decoration in sight, it could just be a regular day in January, nobody would be any the wiser." Minerva couldn't help but smile at the exclamatory used by Azalea. 'Merlin' was new to her vocabulary, in the time she came from, Merlin was a student, under the teachings of Salazar Slytherin himself. She had come so far in the time she had been with them. In that time, Azalea Hogwarts had developed and become a person she never thought she would be, but she loved it. She loved being the student, the friend, sister and girlfriend. It gave her more of a purpose than her mission from her parents ever had.

"Please carry on being you, Azalea. Never lose that part of yourself. The innocent curiosity and excitement, the determination. All the things Potter's eyes light up for," the mention of harry made Azalea smile softly.

"Do you think he misses me as much as I miss him."

"Maybe even more."
