"I'm sorry for going behind your back."

"No you're right. Bella deserves to have Jacob in her life." Edward said looking out the window of Carlisle's office.

"He's leaving Sam's pack." I said with releasing a breath. I knew everyone in the house would be hearing our plan.

"What?"

"We talked about it. He's going to leave and stand against them when they come after you." I said and he sighed. We had came up with a plan this morning before coming here. After we left I was going to see if Sam knew yet and if he did Jacob would do his part.

"Lydia."

"It's our decision. We believe protecting our future niece or nephew is worth it." I said and Edward let a small smile slip. He liked that we were as one.

"Thank you. I know how hard this must be for you, Sam means the world to you." He said and I looked away. It was hard, no matter what I loved him.

"He does but right now he's going to be threatening my family. Just like he has no choice, neither do I." I said and he frowned. He hated that she had to choose between them.

"When the time comes you'll start feeling things. Just try not to-" He said and I stopped him.

"Scream. If I feel it coming I'll warn you." I said and he nodded. Edward was afraid, he wasn't with her when she learned how to use her gift. He hoped this wouldn't hurt her.

"We'll have your back, always." I said lightly touching his hand before walking out of the room to be immediately stopped by Rose.

"You smell like wet dog." She said with a smirk and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Thank you." I said and she chuckled.

"So that's it then? He's with us now." She said and I nodded.

"He's family now." I said and she smiled.
"So should Emmett give him the talk then?" She asked and I laughed with wide eyes.

"Oh god no!" I looked down the stairs to see them sitting and talking while Bella was fast asleep on the couch. She already looked like she was about to pop. We were worried because we didn't know when the baby would come.

"Emmett you big, stupid, oaf. If you are embarrassing me right now I will-" I went to say but I could see his smile growing from downstairs.

"They're talking about cars." Rose said putting a hand over my shoulders and guiding me down the stairs.

"Like you said, he's family now."

Jacob and I went to Sam's for what was supposed to be a nice dinner. Emily has arranged it now that things between Jacob and I were mended. Everything was surprisingly nice until Sam had asked a very touchy question.

"Have you given anymore thought to college?"

"I already decided to defer. Take some time since I completed my transition." I said and the look on Sam's face showed that it was obviously not what he wanted to hear.

"Classes don't start for another month and I called the school, you could still go." He said and I squinted my eyes accusingly.

"Why would you do that? I'm not ready." I asked and he shook his head. He had good intentions just didn't know how to use them correctly.

"Because you need to start living your life! You can't just wait around Forks waiting for someone to die." Sam exclaimed and I was so taken back I couldn't even reply. Jacob went to stop him.

"Sam, stop it's-!"

"Don't even bother Jacob, he can't even remember to pick up the phone and call me why would he remember the anniversary of my dad's death." I said and his face dropped. He didn't forget, he couldn't never.

"Lydia-"

"No, Sam go back to your perfectly busy life. You're right, I'm no good to anyone until someones going to die." I said and his eyes softened. He felt awful that that's what she thought he thought of her.

"I didn't mean that." He said and I shook my head. It really sounded like he did.

"I'm just going to go." I said grabbing my purse and turning to leave.

"I'll take you home." Jacob said giving me the keys to his rabbit. I just took them and walked out of Sam's home.

"She doesn't need an Alpha or a father, she needs her friend."

"Jake." He called out.

"Take care of her." Sam said and Jacob paid him one last look.

"Always."
