He always loved to watch you.

The way your (h/l) hair flowed in the wind, and the way the sun reflected off of your eyes. At this point you were quite small, smaller than the average Daemos female.

It dazzled him.

You never looked his way, not like he did.

But that didn't mean he didn't intrigue you.

"How are we supposed to help them?" Ava asked as you continued piecing together another new invention you had been working on. You had tended to keep them a secret from Ava, but this was a simple kitchen device you were creating.

"Just show them around like they said. I know my brother he talks a big game, but hardly ever follows through."

"Tell that to the fireball he held to my face." She muttered as she laid halfway off you bed, kicking her feet in the air like a small child.

You snorted as you placed the last piece together. "There! Done." You grinned from ear to ear as you handed the small device to Ava.

"And this will help quiet the blender when you make those weird shakes in the morning?" She asked and you nodded briefly, laughing slightly at what she called your protein shakes.

"Now, where did those boys wander off too?"

"Do you believe in soulmates?" Leif asked you one night. He had followed you up to the top of a cliff that you sat on every night to watch the stars.

"Why do you ask?" You followed with, not in the mood to answer his questions like usual.

"Well, I don't. Didn't." He stammered and looked at you with so much confusion in his eyes.

"Those are two different answers Leif." You chuckled, leaving the male in complete shock that you even bothered to entertain this conversation he started.

"Well when I was younger, my grandmother would tell me stories about people with matching eyes. I never believed it until I saw you."

"Leif, our eyes are hardly the same color." You rolled your own as he smiled.

"It's not about the color sweetie-"

"Don't call me that." You spoke in a warning tone.

"It's the sparkle."

"You cheese ball. Stop talking to me."

You looked into his eyes as he shifted his another way and noticed he did have a sparkle in his eyes. Just like the one lady grandma had always told you that you had.

"So what do you say, believe in them?" He questioned again and you shook your head.

"Hardly. Takes more than some silly grandma story to make me believe in a fantasy. I don't even believe in love really. I feel like if I ever did there would have to be a surreal string of events that would occur." You spoke like you were a genius in the topic, but in reality you knew nothing and hoped your boastful tone would stop the continuous questions.

"Oh yeah, like what?" He asked hopefully.

You smiled softly as you allowed your mind to wander again to entertain this playful scene. "I don't know maybe like a scenario when you meet someone again during another point in your life and it just rocks your world entirely. It's like nothing else matters anymore because you feel the exact same way you did when you knew that person at a younger age. Life just feels better when they're around and they'll fit your new life perfectly."

He smiled at you but you shook your head again. "But yeah, I would never believe in soulmates."

Leif glanced at her from across the room as she spoke to her brother and sister quietly. He never forgot what she had said to him on that cliff years ago, on a fateful starry night.

He also couldn't help but wonder if she remembered. After all if what she said about soulmates and love is true, the two of them were destined to be together forever.

Y/n noticed him looking at her. She also remembered that night, and she had thought about it constantly, even years later.

She couldn't help but hope that Leif would find her again some day, and now that he has she didn't know what to do with the feeling that sat with her.

It was almost like they were kids again, completely chemically attracted. She couldn't help but push him away again.
