Chapter 14 - The Truth Part 2

Maddie POV:
We arrived home from the hospital, Sam and Colton stayed behind to watch Elias.

"Maddie, come with me to my office we will explain everything." My father said walking towards his office. My brothers and I followed. "Sit" he told me once I made it inside his office. I sat on the large black couch in between Maddox and Alex. "Look I know you have a lot of questions. And I'm going to answer you, honestly and truthfully. Just remember anything I say doesn't change how I feel about you. You are still my daughter, I still love you. I will always love you."

"Who was the person shooting at us? Why did they shoot at us?" I asked terrified of the response.

"That man worked for my enemy. His name is Valdik Zentiv. He shot at you so that he could kill you, and weaken me and our family business."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. For our family business that doesn't make sense. "But we own hotels? And clubs? Why would they want to kill us over that?"

"Maddie, We don't only own hotels and clubs. There is something I never told you because I wanted to protect you. We are apart of the Italian Mafia." What? That's insane I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My dads gone mad. "Well, I am the Head of the Italian Mafia." I started blankly.

"Haha very funny" I said scared he wasn't lying. He didn't laugh. He was telling me the truth. "WHAT? YOUR THE HEAD OF THE ITALIAN MAFIA?" I got up from my seat and started passing around the room.

"Maddie I know it's hard to believe, but it's the truth. I didn't want to tell you because I was trying to protect you."

"Protect me? I just got shot! Elias is in a coma! You didn't protect me! You lied to me! For months! Ever since I got here you just lied!" I screamed immediately regretting what I said. "Dad I swear I didn't mean that. It just came out I was angry and—"

"—You're right. I didn't protect you. I failed you. I lied to you. I'm so sorry. From the moment I found out about you I made myself a promise I was going to protect you and I failed." My dad sat back in his chair and put his face in his hands. "God Maddison I'm so sorry. I failed you."

I saw this was genuine he just told wanted to protest me. And head of the mafia or not, he's my father. I still love him. I walked over and hagged him. "You didn't fail me." He turned to me. "Look I didn't mean anything I was just upset. I promise. Mafia or not your my father and I love you." He leaned over and hugged me again.

"So your not mad or scared or whatever that were in the mafia?" Maddox spoke up.

I shook my head. "It's actually kinda cool, so like does this mean I'm in the mafia now too or?"

"NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOO!" Kade screamed.

"Look Maddie, in the mafia. If you want to hurt the capo, you go for people they love. Usually they go for women and children, because they are the weakest. If I involve you in the Mafia, I don't know what can happen. I already lost Mirabella, I can't loose you too." My father said full of sadness.

"I thought Mirabella died in a car accident?" I said solemnly.

"The Russian Mafia has her killed." I stopped at Noah's words. I felt so bad for bringing it up. "The same Mafia that just tried to kill Elias and you."

"I know where your coming from, but she was attacked anyway. Maybe it would be better if she was at least trained. Able to fight for herself." Alex spoke up.

"Your kidding right? Train her with the recruits?" Noah retorted.

"That's not a bad idea son, I still hate the idea of her being involved, but she needs to be able to defend herself." My dad said. "Start training her in a few days, doctors said her arm should be healed by then. Just be careful with her please."

"Cool. OH! DO I GET A GUN!" I exclaimed.

"NO!!!!!!" They all said in unison

"Boooo! I said sarcastically "You should at least train me on one, just Incase."

"Fine. Maddie you will be trained on a gun, but you WILL NOT get one for yourself until I deem it appropriate." My dad said.

We were all laughing when one of our men walked in.

"Capo!" He looked flustered when he saw me "I mean sir"

"It's okay Antonio, she knows. Maddie, this is my best friend and right hand man for the Mafia, Antonio." My dad introduced us.

"Capo, we found Valdik. He's waiting at the warehouse for you." Antonio told my father.

"Kade, take your sister back to the hospital to visit Elias. Bring Colton and Sam a change of clothes too. I have some business to attend to. Maddox, Noah, Alex, your with me." My father instructed. And with that, we went our separate ways.
