I knew he was my mate from the second I turned 18. I would catch myself staring at him longingly every single day without fail. My birthday is 4 months earlier than his but I had no issue with admiring from a distance until he found me himself. I sighed almost silently as I watched him train with the pack fighters. He was leading the group of course, seeing as he was the Alpha-to-be. The way the sweat made his toned figure glisten. I could feel my love growing bigger by the second.

"Looks like the human has a crush." I heard a jarring voice that pulled me out of my trance. I looked over and saw the Beta-to-be. I lowered my eyes to the floor. He scoffed and left me alone in the pack lounge. I'm 18 and I haven't shifted yet. No one knows why. It just never happened. The only wolf-like thing about me is the fact that I could recognise my mate. I don't have enhanced senses or claws or teeth. If I didn't know for a fact that both my parents were werewolves I would think that I was human. But I know that I'm not. With a sigh I stood up from my spot on the floor by the window and left the room. I went upstairs to my bedroom and closed the door behind me. I've been watching him for nearly 4 months. His birthday is tomorrow. Tomorrow he'll find me and I'll finally be rid of the ridicule and take my place as the pack's Luna. We'll be together. We'll be happy.

"Knock knock." I heard a familiar voice coming from behind the door. I shook my head with a smile and opened it. I stepped forward and hugged my older brother, Ryan. He hugged me back with a small laugh.

"Did you miss me that much?" He asked as he pulled away. He'd be away fighting rogues for the last couple of weeks. Unlike me, he can actually shift. He's got an average sized brown wolf.

"Of course I did. Why wouldn't I?" I asked. I reached up and tousled his black hair. He hit my hand away, his blue eyes sparkling. We walked into my room and sat on my bed.

"So," He started and I looked at him.

"Are you going to tell me who he is?" He asked. He laid down on the bed and put his hands behind his head. I told him that I found my mate but I never told him who it was. I wanted it to be a surprise.

"No. You'll find out soon. Like really soon." I told him. His eyes lit up.

"How soon?" I just shook my head.

"Jack." He said sternly. I just shook my head again but this time with a cheeky grin.

"Jaqueline Elizabeth Leath. I have been waiting to find out who the love of your life is for 4 months. Please tell me." Ooo full name. He means business. I sighed and relented.

"Tomorrow. You'll find out tomorrow." A blinding smile took over his face and he launched himself at me, hugging me tightly. I hugged him back and relished in the feeling. We let go and he began telling me all about his adventures with the rogues. I was hooked from the first sentence. I'm so unbelievably proud of him. We talked late into the night and eventually he had to go and sleep. I got ready for bed and looked out the window at the bright moon in the night sky.

Tomorrow's the big day.
