Reborn

Chapter Twenty-Five

I walked through the field and brushed my hands over the tall flowers. 

"Hey Jack." I looked over my shoulder to see Ryan. I smiled and walked over to him. I pulled him into a hug. 

"I'll always love you. You know that right?" He asked and I nodded with a smile.

"I want you to be happy. Don't stayed hooked on something from the past. You gotta let go." He said.

"I don't understand. Why are you telling me this?" I asked. He kissed my forehead. 

"I'll always be here." 

I woke up to the sun on my face. I sighed when I realised that what happened was a dream. It felt so real. I got out of bed and walked to the window. I could see Ryan's grave from here. I took a deep breath. I thought I'd be angrier. But I guess I already got my revenge. I watched as a few pack members put flowers on to his grave. I heard movement and Damien appeared beside me.

"How are you feeling?" He asked. 

"Better." I replied. I felt like I cried out everything. I've got nothing left to give. 

"I need to announce a new Beta today." He said. I looked at him.

"Today? That's really soon." I wasn't mad that he was giving away my brother's title. It's what he would want.

"It's how things are. Without a Beta the pack isn't complete." He told me. I was silent for a second.

"Dylan." I said. 

"Dylan?" He asked. I nodded.

"He took care of the pack when I went to go find you. He did a good job considering the pack wasn't falling apart or panicked when we got back." I explained. 

"To be honest I hadn't thought of Dylan. I trust you. Let get dressed." We both had a shower and got dressed before walking to the office. Damien mind linked Dylan and asked him to meet us in the office. When we told him that we wanted him to be our Beta he was shocked. He asked why we thought that he'd be a good Beta and Damien told him that it was my idea. I was proud of how he handled the pack while we were gone. His smile was bright when he accepted. Damien announced it to the pack via the mindlink and I could hear cheers. Dylan left the office to go celebrate with a couple of his other friends. I leant against the big desk. I crossed my arms over my chest and looked out the window. 

"What are you thinking so hard about?" Damien asked as he stood up and moved so he was in front of me. I looked him in the eyes and held his face in my hands.

"I love you." I said earnestly. His widened.

"You love me?" He asked and I nodded. He pulled me to him and kissed me with a passion that took my breath away. He rested his forehead against mine.

"I love you too." I smiled and kissed him again like my life depended on it. I heard a loud cheer and looked outside. It looked like a party was starting, a bonfire had been lit and there was music playing. 

"Want to join them?" My gorgeous mate asked and I nodded. I took his hand and we ran outside to join the others. I could feel Ryan smiling down and laughing at me as we partied long into the night. He would have loved this. He wouldn't have wanted me to spend the rest of my life miserable. Damien pulled me into his arms and kissed me with such love that I just completely melted as the music boomed around us.

I've been given a second chance at life. I won't waste it. 

Ryan was right. I just gotta let go.
