DESCRIPTION
Theodora Irvine was a well-respected geneticist and had been through all sorts of trials and tribulations to get to where she is now. After all that had happened in her life, she thought that all the strangeness in the world would stay well away from her. She never expected Bruce Banner knocking on the door to her lab and asking for her help. And she certainly never expected to fall in love with him.

› so the story starts after the events of The Avengers. Bruce goes to Theodora for help, wanting to see if there's a clue in his genes as to whether he could get more control over the whole Hulk thing
› she agrees to help him as not only is she a kind soul, she is a doctor and a scientist and very intrigued by the whole situation and what they might find
› the short of it would be that they don't find anything in their genes that would give Bruce more control, they find quite the opposite
› the long of it is that after many trials and lots of observation, they find that Bruce and Hulk only share part of their DNA. Enough that if they weren't inhabiting the same body, you wouldn't actually think they were the same person
› which they technically aren't, as Hulk has his own mind and the powers are his alone and while they're connected, Bruce and Hulk really are two separate people
› Theodora also isn't afraid of the Hulk because she knows that he cares about Bruce and she knows that Bruce cares about her (at first only platonically) so he wouldn't hurt Bruce by hurting her. At least, that's her reasoning. Whether anyone else thinks that's sound logic...... up to you
› Theodora and Bruce are a fast burn as they are together by the time act one with all the genetics and experiments and stuff is done. You wanted soft, so I give you a happy couple. For now. I know you also love angst.
› during the events of AoU, Theodora is at some kind of convention or something far away from the action and the influence of Ultron, she doesn't learn about anything that happens till afterwards. Which, speaking of...
› I'm pulling partially on comics here so I know this is a little strange, but since they've been together for approx. three years at this point, I imagine this happy couple were trying to figure out a way to have a family. And so Theodora was doing her geneticist thing and she actually ended up figuring it out
› to surprise Bruce, she doesn't tell him at first so after they've defeated Ultron and whichever Avenger comes to tell her that Hulk/Banner has flown off and can't be found, she discovers that she is pregnant and now alone
› well, "alone", given that you know the Avengers would help her and be there for her, but Bruce is gone, who's the baby's father so. Alone.
› nine months later, she gives birth to a boy who she names Lyrus (after one of Bruce's kids in the comics) and she raises all by her lonesome until Bruce comes crashing back to Earth in Infinity War
› she is, of course, notified that he's back and she and Bruce (and Lyrus) have a tearful and angry reunion as despite the fact that she's happy that her partner is back, she's pissed at him for leaving and the anger has been stewing for like three years so
› neither Theodora or Lyrus are dusted so in the five years before Infinity War, they resolve their issues and get back together and raise their son together
› after Thanos gets his ass turned to dust as well, they attend the funeral together and go back to living their life as best they can
