I called kiki over to my apartment because i don't think i can deal with ola's mother, her son haven't married me yet have faced much difficulties..seriously i hate that old witch..
"Kiki help me out, its a must i get married to ola, you of all people should understand better" i said bittered and broke into tears
"Here you are complaining about ola's mother, that should be the least of your worries presently..if you want me to lend you a hand out tell me in details what happened days ago"
"Ok...hmm..its nothing much, i met the old hag eating when i came in, she shot hot stares at me which i didn't mind not untill she called me a prostitute, she complained about the way i dressed, kiki that old witch called me a prostitute" i said amidst tears "she literally told her son to throw me out, can you imagine that, do i look like a prostitute?" i said as i sobbed hard kiki scoffed
"And what's that supposed to mean i asked her, eyeing her
"What is what?" She asked feigning innocence..
"Abeg Abeg no come laugh me here o"(please, please, do not mock me)
She spoke comforting words which calmed me, "babe, see that old mama no be match for you, clean your face sharp sharp, i dey here for you, abeg no cry jare"(babe that old woman is no match for you, besides am here with you, please do wipe your tears) she said..
"See girlfriend, i'd like to give you some piece of advice, all you need to do is to act a little drama" she said but i was confused about what kiki said "how?" i asked
"come on, you are a lot smarter than this" she said eyeing me
"kiki explain na" i pleaded
"Ok, before i proceed, are you sure ola loves you?"
"hanhan, what kind of question is that, you know ola loves me so much, he would do anything for me his baby and i love him too" i said proudly
"Gbenu so un jare"(shut your mouth) she said, i started to get irritated
"babe, abeg cut the pretense jare! you and i know very well that you don't love this guy, is it not his money you love ehn? see, its only you and i in this house, so don't feed me with rubbish abeg"
"Kiki i don't like the way you are talking o" i snapped
"But its the truth na" she scoffed
"I didn't call you here to add salt to my wound o, but kiki, i think am starting to love ola, am damn serious" i said truthfully
"Ok o, mrs lovey dovey, since when do you start falling in love? sam you never fall in love with anyone..not even chief Adams that showers you more money" she retorted
"i don't know, this few weeks, i just
realized my feelings for ola, and no matter the circumstances i won't give up on him, i won't share him with anyone" i replied seriously..i start to feel a discomfort..
"Pele o iyawo" she said
Just spill it na what do i have to do?" i asked impatiently
"Its something very simple, like i said earlier all you need to do is act a little drama, and trust me on this, ola's mother will so love and adorn you, but i'd bet if you can do it" she said smiling suspiciously
"Wow, girlfriend, do you know the reason i love you?" i asked her, "you always have a solution to my all problems" i brightened up, feeling excited, but i started to feel nauseated, but i braced myself up
"Now, that rubbish perspective ola's mother have about you will change firstly, you have to change the way you dress, it seems the old woman like "mary-amaka" kind of dress, so we would give it to her, you are going to get lot of maxi dresses, Infact you will start dressing like a typical housewife am sure you understand what i mean, then you have to improve your culinary skills, it will really help........"
While kiki explained all these, i felt a great discomfort within, i started to sweat profusely, i was kind of dizzy, again i felt nauseated without futher patience i rushed over to the bathroom to throw up, everything i had in the morning went down, why now?, i asked myself, kiki also rushed over, pouring water on my face then to my face, "are you alright?" kiki asked worried....
After i was done, i felt a bit relieved..
"What happened? are you sick?" Kiki asked again
"no, am not sick" i snapped
"And you expect me to believe you? you threw up two days ago, and you sit here to tell me there's nothing wrong with you?" she furrowed
"I said am alright" i explained trying not to make an eye contact with her
"You are pregnant sam" she said, i was shocked, damn! how the hell did she find out?
"yes, i think i am" i said broken, i didn't plan this..
"kiki, believe me, i didn't for this, it's a mistake, i will have to abort it before anyone else finds out, especially ola, he's never going to forgive me" i said amidst tears
"Come on sam, you don't need to abort this pregnancy, Infact its a great blessing.....wait"! she suddenly sit up
"isnt ola responsible for it?"
"hmmm" i replied
"What's hmmm? is it a yes or no?" she asked angrily
"Yes"
"Who is responsible?" she asked eagerly
"It is chief o" i replied crying
"Chief?, which of the chiefs?
"Chief Adams of course" i replied
irritated
"Wow sam, this is a great news, Infact you made my day with this news....sam, i smell more money, i mean we are in money now" she beamed with joy, she started dancing, i was lost..
She sat upright "look here sam, right now you have to forget ola for good, i want you to pick up your phone and inform chief that you are pregnant, make him understand you are keeping the baby" she said expecting that i do so immediately
"Are you crazy" i shouted at her "how do you expect me to inform chief about it, that man is damn old for God sake! you want me to be his sixth or seventh wife? do you know how miserable that would made me? kiki do you really care about my happiness? is it even certain chief will marry me? most importantly I dont even love him" i explained
"Shut up!.....so he wasnt old when he was spoiling you with money taking you on different expensive trips, sending you monthly allowance, paying your rents ehn?
how do i start counting what chief Adams has done for you? is it the shopping he does for you and sometimes me too? can you remember when your mother needed money for her surgery, who paid for it? talk na! sam wake up if you are still sleeping, if chief gets to know you are going to have a baby, i swear you will swim in more money, you and i know how much he worths na! come on you are lot smarter than this, think about it!" she said,
To be sincere i reasoned with kiki, what she said makes lot of sense! afterall money matters but what can i do? Am deeply in love with ola, and am not ready to let go.. moreover chief is going nowhere, i think killing two birds with a single stone would help in this situation!
