“You should sit down, Ada…” Jaxton said with a concerned look at me. I could feel the stress leaking off of him and I did as told not wanting to add to it. “August do you want to start?”

“Uh sure…” August frowned, scratching the back of his neck. “So well first off you should know that we aren’t actually the leaders of this pack.” My eyes widened in shock and I pressed myself farther into the couch. What the fuck is happening? What have I gotten myself into?

“I know this is gonna be a lot to take in just please wait to ask questions when we’ve finished.” Jaxton said, sitting down on the other end of the couch and taking a deep breath.

“Anyways,” August continued. “We aren’t who we say we are, I mean we did use our real names for this assignment, but our mission here was to find out what was causing the downfall of this pack. The Elders suspected Lola to be slowly killing off the families of those who didn’t return her uh… interest.

Wolves were dropping left and right from wolfsbane poisoning. We were sent here to find evidence that would let us execute her. She took interest in Jaxton obviously, so he pretended to reciprocate, and then broke it off almost immediately after.

He then started serial dating the females in the pack, trying to get her angry enough to try and kill one of them. It didn’t work though, she was suspicious even with our slow integration into the pack. That’s why Jaxton signed up for the Ring. He could claim a female quickly and inevitably she would become crazed with jealousy.” August paused glancing to Jaxton, a silent question in his eyes.

“I hadn’t expected to meet you though.” Jaxton said looking at the dead female on the floor and sneering, “I hadn’t expected Matthias either. When I saw you I immediately had the urge to protect you and wanted to claim you as mine. That’s why I didn’t. I didn’t want to chain you to me when you didn’t actually know me.

I did tell you I was broken. Just not in the way you thought. So we kept an eye on you at all times, and waited for her to strike. Silas was late the day we watched movies because he was watching her, making sure she didn’t poison the food with wolfsbane. Thankfully she thought it was too dangerous, she didn’t want to risk poisoning me.

Thanks to her scheming with Matthias we were finally able to catch her at something worthy of at least imprisonment. Then she fucking tries to kill you! An Omega!” Jaxton’s voice rose and his eyes darkened into a deep shade of green.

“It was the best chance we had to end her reign of terror forever.” Silas continued for Jaxton, “So we took it, and now the real Alpha can come back. Without Alpha Cassian this pack would fall apart. You see, even he was a fake. We used him as a way to get you out of there faster. In the seven years we were at this pack she had managed to kill two females and one unlucky male.

We weren’t able to watch her all the time at the beginning, those murders happened in the first three years. Before we had been able to gain her trust, and her affections.” Silas looked down, his handsome face marred with sadness and shame at not being able to save them.

“The file on Alpha Cassian was forged,” August said, “Just something to keep you busy and make her really believe that you were going to be claimed by Jaxon. It’s a good thing you came along too. Without you we wouldn’t have been able to take her down, we really are lucky.

Oh and the Omega council was a fake too, though we do need to take you to meet the Elders. They have an Omega there that needs to fill you in on what it actually means to be an Omega. Her name is Sasha and she is excited to meet you.”

“We are going to leave to meet with the Elders in the morning, and then we will get our next assignment. You I don’t know what they will do with you, and Jax might stay there too considering all of his attachments to you. My mate and I still need to decide if we want to take a little vacation or keep working.” Silas said glancing over at August when he said the word mate and giving him a pointed look. God this was too much information.
