45. In 1976, what I saw at the basement

I encountered Slenderman around 1976, at the age of 9 or 10. Was trying to conquer my fear of the basement of our new home in Dayton, Ohio USA. Dragging my dog with me to bottom of stairs, I sat down. A large blackness, like a hallway appeared in front of me. I could hear distinct footsteps of dress shoes echoing on concrete, a figure came out of the blackness with no face, but dressed in a suit with tails (like what someone doing a dance number in old movie) complete with top hat and cane. My dog had gotten free of my grip and ran upstairs. I felt overwhelmed with terror,and ran outside to tell my father.
of course no one believed me. My Mother took this more seriously when I became a young adult, as I am a grown woman with a family, I come to the conclusion that I dont care if anyone believes me, I KNOW it happened.
My Mother raised me in a theosophical tradition, we have discussed it many times over the years. A few thngs that I have come to believe: It is an elemental that changes its appearance, explaining the variations in appearance over time and geographical location. It feeds on energy (fear especially). The last thing is odd, but I strongly feel that schizophrenic people somehow draws his attention to a place. Dont know why I feel so strongly about the last point, but there IS a strong connection between mental illness and negative entities. My father was schizophrenic, god bless his soul, and there were other experiences as well. I had no idea how ancient and wide spread this encounter is, and was truly shocked to read all this info on subject. I have never shared this story outside my immediate family. but felt the need to share this encounter. hopefully it will help anyone who has to deal with this issue, knowledge is power. Identifying these things and what is known about them brings down fear level (at least for me) leaving less fear (and less energy for this thing to feed off of) my prayers are with anyone dealing with this, it truly is like being in the Twilight Zone.
