Chapter 17: Watching Me

Shuichi let out a sigh whilst staring down at his broken phone, Kirigiri peeked through the curtains before shutting them once again. "...Couldn't we have just turned off my phone?" She shook her head as she turned to face him with crossed arms. "No, like I said- they can pretty much track you down from anywhere." Shuichi gave her an annoyed expression with the fact that his uncle is either highly suspicious of him or is worried. "Is that why you picked this old, run-down motel?" She reluctantly nodded, "Tomorrow, we'll head out to eat." The male frowned, "Why not today? We haven't eaten until this morning and it's already midnight." Kyoko clenched her fists while keeping a straight face. "If we go out now, then I'll die and you'll be living a nightmare where you can't wake up." Saihara was indeed frightened by the consequences of going outside, so he didn't want to risk it. He fell backwards onto his bed which was coloured white and had a thin blanket, props to the owner for actually thinking of their sleep.

The only clothes Shuichi wore was a white vest and dark blue shorts, he knew he would have to avoid wearing his original clothes to hide his disguise. As for Kyoko, she had a short-sleeved shirt that was white and baggy trousers which were blue. The female was busy reading a book on her own bed as Shuichi blankly stared at the grey ceiling. Some time had passed for the hopeless boy and the anxious girl, in which it wasn't as obvious, until she finally broke the silence. "...Shuichi." She called out to him, he turned his head to show that he was listening. "If... If we manage to get out of this together, then I want to thank you." She said in her monotone voice, yet her eyes was a different story. "Thank me?" Kyoko shut her book and placed it on the wooden desk beside her. "Yes, for making the impossible seem possible." The moon shun bright from behind the curtains as she reached to turn off the lamp with her gloves already placed in the drawer.

"Goodnight, Shuichi."

 "Goodnight, Kyoko."

Shuichi waited for Kirigiri to book them out of the motel, she returned the rusty keys to the red-headed man and pulled her red cap down. "Lets go." She said as they left what was only known as a motel with its ripped wallpapers and the dusty floors. Walking through the rain, Shuichi felt sympathetic for the girl. She had to leave the van as soon as they left Kokichi. Just so they wouldn't get tracked down. His hands were stuffed in his baggy jeans with his grey hoodie and black mask, Shuichi didn't like this style but he knew he had to change up his style. No point in getting caught now after all they went through, Kyoko already threw their clothes in the bin. The only had little money with them, the girl brought her card with her but once again- not getting caught. Passing by others walking by, Kyoko continued to fiddle with her oversized jumper which was black and so was her mask. Her trousers were blue but not as baggy as Saihara, they were simple jeans. No skinny jeans, no rips in them, just plain simple jeans.

The two didn't know where they were going but all he knew was that they were going to get some food somewhe- The male turned his head to look at the camera above them, "..." His eyes were slightly wide from the sudden scare. "Whats wrong?" Kyoko asked as she turned around. "J-Just jumped me I guess..." He said whilst staring deep into the camera, almost like it were a soul hidden inside. It felt as though the camera was purposefully- "Watching me..." He silently whispered to himself. Shuichi directed his gaze onto the shop behind it and noticed it was a video game shop. It was almost like a box, there was an open wooden door coloured a light purple as the front of the building was completely covered with glass. It was tinted a light pink with video games stacked on each other. The inside held many people gazing at the games which were already stacked on top of each other. The carpet was purple just like Kyoko's hair. The walls were white too. "I'm guessing that you like games then?" She asked him while he looked inside. It was full of people, it must be relatively famous then. Saihara shook his head, "No, I just remember hearing about this place." Kyoko spoke up. "Yeah, this place is owned by Nanami Chiaki. She's an addict with making these, but often shuts down her place at the most random times."

Shuichi nodded at her as she suggested to head off. Hiding through the crowd of people inside the shop, the short-headed female smiled. "Found you." She whispered.
