The weeks following the incident at the ballet studio were calm. I hadn't gone back to Forks yet, I was every weekend preparing for Swan Lake. The directors were really being strict about practices and missing school while I was in Phoenix did not help the situation. Somehow I was able to keep my role, but I was in the line of fire, one more missed practice and I was out.
The others called often, asking when I would return and as much as I wanted to, I had no time. It was the end of the semester and I not only had to worry about ballet, but finals as well. I spent most of my time either dancing or studying. Dance rehearsals ran late into the night and for once I was thankful for my many sleepless nights: they gave me time to study. I was confident that I would get all A's, but I was nervous nonetheless.
After Emmett and I returned to Forks, I greeted Rosalie and Esme before returning to Seattle, not even giving Jasper and the others time to return. It had been 3 weeks since then and the show was finally this weekend. After this weekend there was one more week of classes, finals week, and then my school year would be over. Today was Friday and the Cullens would be arriving tonight. The show was Saturday evening, but I had to be in the auditorium all day for dress rehearsals. I had never gotten the chance to give them their tickets ahead of time, but they didn't mind. I invited them to stay the night in my apartment so that they wouldn't have to worry about driving to Seattle the day of. The apartment wasn't that big, but it would be enough space for us, it's a good thing they wouldn't actually be sleeping. I had a couple barstools near the island in the kitchen, a couch, a beanbag, and my bed so there would be room for them to sit at least.
I offered Bella a ticket as well, but she refused, not wanting everyone to worry about her with her broken leg and everything. Nevertheless she insisted that Edward go without her, saying that she was thankful for everything I did for her and that everyone should be there to support me. I spoke to her on the phone, I had gotten her number from Alice who had seen my decision to invite her, and she was very adamant about it. I never did really get to talk to the others about the aftermath of James. I came back to Seattle so quickly and I hadn't even addressed what happened to me in the ballet studio. I would probably get a rundown when they arrived.
I had class until 2 today, but I also had rehearsals after class from 6-9. We wouldn't have rehearsals run too late, just because the show was tomorrow and we would have to wake up early for even more rehearsals. I was currently sitting in math, not paying attention to the equations displayed in the lecture hall. I had a 4 hour time frame between class and rehearsals and the Cullens would be arriving around 5:30, once they got out of school they would leave. I didn't have a lot of time to speak to them before I would have to leave, but I had enough time to let them in and then get to the auditorium that we were rehearsing in. I would have a lot of time to catch up after practice since I didn't have to get a full 8 hours of sleep like I usually would before a show.
My professor droned on until finally it was time to leave. Today I had decided to go to class in my ballet clothes with a pair of leggings and a sweater over them so that I wouldn't have to bother running back to my apartment to change. I would have extra time before class, but I would get to talk to the others that arrived early to maximize stretch time.
It was no surprise to me when I walked in and saw Skylar already in the back corner removing her shoes and street clothes. She was one of the hardest working dancers in the program. We met at new student orientation, she was the same grade as me, and we were fast friends. Most of the time we would hang out and study together, seeing as we had similar classes. Skylar had also managed to get a role in dance of the little swans. The other two girls were Nova and Vivian, I had gotten fairly close to the two of them as well while preparing for the show. Nova was a junior and Vivian a sophomore. They were not here yet though, there are mostly freshmen in this class, but they would be present later for rehearsals. Right now there were just a couple of other girls I knew by faces and not names as well as a boy I had recognized as Jeremy. We had never really spoken, but were friendly: a simple "hi" or a light smile when we passed each other. He was quiet and spoke mainly to the people he was close to, but he was very talented, making everyone know his name.
